What is Computer ?
A computer is an electronic device that manipulates
information, or "data." It has the ability to store, retrieve,
and process data. You can use a computer to type documents,
send email, and browse the internet. You can also use it to
handle spreadsheets, accounting, database management,
presentations, games, and more.
At a single time the computer can solve many problems and
thus this is one of the oldest devices that had been used by
the ancient people and till now many new implementations
had been seen in it too.
Computers Simplified
For beginning computer users, the computer aisles at an
electronics store can be quite a mystery, not to mention
overwhelming. However, computers really aren't that
mysterious. All types of computers consist of two basic parts:
Hardware is any part of your computer that has a physical
structure, such as the computer monitor or keyboard.
Software is any set of instructions that tells the hardware
what to do. It is what guides the hardware and tells it how
to accomplish each task. Some examples of software are
web browsers, games, and word processors such as
Microsoft Word.
Error in Computer Technology
A software bug is the common term used to describe an
error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program
or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or
causes it to behave in unintended ways. While usually the result
of programmer error or oversight, bugs can also be introduced
into a program through compiler error, incorrect assumptions
about hardware or software interfaces, or can be intentionally
coded into software to create obfuscated interfaces or back doors.
While bugs often cause software to crash or produce unexpected
results, certain types of software bugs can be exploited to gain
unauthorized access to otherwise secure computer systems.
The Growth Of Computer Technology
Technology has grown
by leaps and bounds over the
past 30 to 40 years. The first
gadget which took baby steps
around 30 year and has
transformed life throughout the
world is computer. Remember
the days when for performing
simple functions like addition
and subtraction we either used
adding and subtracting
machines or we had no other
option but to do it manually. The arrival of computer changed the whole
concept of performing simple and repetitive task a much easier job.
This was just the beginning of the computers stride in human life. Slowly
but steadily it started entering into every aspect of human life and today it
has become an indispensable part of human life. Be it typing a letter, be it
performing complex calculations, be it making a presentation to your boss,
or be it arranging, sorting and managing huge amount of data, life without
computer has become unthinkable. Use of computers is only limited by our
imagination.
Booking railway ticket, withdrawing money from ATM, performing
complex medical surgeries, tracking your childs movement while going to
school, you name it every thing is possible only with the help of computers.
Along with computers one more invention which has also changed the
world once for all is without doubt the internet and mobile telephones.
Internet in combination with computers is redefining life almost everyday.
There are however some problems which also have grown alongside the
growth of internet.
Listening to music, watching movies on the internet and computers
have never been so easy and all these is possible only because of mans
quest to grow materially, emotionally and grow in terms of intelligence. In
conclusion we can confidently claim that computer and internet of two
perfect examples of technology reaching the people at the lowest level. We
have still a long way to go before the real benefits of these two
technologies are felt by all classes of people.
