Primary Research Analysis

The primary research conducted was a questionnaire given to students aged 14-18 to inform the creation of a college magazine. It found that 70% of respondents were most drawn to magazine covers featuring people. When asked about music magazine preferences, 40% preferred magazines about music and 17% specified Kerrang! magazine. Most respondents wanted student advice (35%), a campus map (25%), and upcoming events (20%) included in the magazine. The most listened to music genres were rock (40%) and chart music (20%). Most respondents attend gigs or festivals 1-2 times per year. Big tickets to a local venue were the most appealing prize for a magazine competition at 40%.

Primary research analysis

The primary research I conducted was in the form of a questionnaire, this gave the
opportunity to include questions that would provide a balance of quantitative and
qualitative data.
All participants were in the age range group of 14-1 years old, with a !"#!" ratio of
male to female participants, as this will be the targeted audience of a college
maga$ine.

said that images of animals drew their attention to a maga$ine, leaving the remaining
1"- to the group entitled %/ther+. The %/ther+ group was labelled as such because
the answer was unspecified#unsure. This would suggest that the most effective to
use for my college maga$ine front cover will be a person or group of people.

fonts and colours would produce a better response in a maga$ine than a fashion
maga$ine layout. so to optimi$e sales, the maga$ine should be laid out in a music
maga$ine format.
