Math is essential for informatics and computers in several ways:
1) Computer programs that deal with images like Photoshop and Illustrator use mathematical matrices to represent images as arrays of numbers corresponding to pixel colors.
2) 3D animation programs like those used by Pixar use complex math operations to calculate how 3D models will appear on screen, applying concepts from differential geometry.
3) Database and spreadsheet programs rely on linear algebra, calculus, and statistics formulas to perform queries, updates, and transformations of stored data.
4) Overall, math is needed at various levels of informatics from analyzing problems to developing algorithmic solutions, and is core to how computers represent and process information

MATH ON INFORMATICS 2 How math is applied on informatics
Since a Little kid, I used to wonder how math is applied in Computing, Programing or Informatics. With some research, no easy information is found. Computing can go extreme to extreme, from the point of view where its useless to the point where it is your morning bread of each day. It is all related to the aspect where we develop it. On this essay we will learn how math is applied on computers software, influencing more on video and image edition software.
A computer is an electronic device which receives and processes data, most of the times a complex of numbers. I compare computers with our brains and its commands are our extremities movements. Have you ever heard of Flash, Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator? These are programs of image edition based on vectors. A vector is a mathematic concept that has magnitude, direction and origin. Paint, Paint Brush and Photoshop are similar too. These computer programs use mathematical matrices, an array of numbers, symbols or expressions arranged in rows and columns, to represent images. To the computer, those images are matrices full of numbers, which represent colors. To crop one picture you use mathematical widths, when you draw something, reduce the brightness or add any other effect, the software uses mathematical operations with the numbers that represent colors. Pixar, a company that makes animated movies, makes them all through computer. Those animation movies in 3D use very complex mathematical operations to calculate what the 3D model will show on screen. Pixar uses differential and geometry concepts on 3D.
Moreover, Data Bases use lineal algebra to make query operations and updates. Microsoft Excel, the most popular data base software relies on mathematical operation and calculus. Even though we only see cells and rows, there is a more complex world behind that. The values we input into those cells can be easily, mathematically transformed to graphics. Most of the statistics formulas are used in Microsoft Excel to fulfill our needs.
MATH ON INFORMATICS 3 In conclusion, Math is essential to informatics and its computers to solve and give solutions, easier, quicker and more efficient. I have briefly explained that math in informatics is not only used for functions, numbers and Greek numbers, but also on analysis, structures and etc. With math you analyze a problem, and then with the language of programming you get the best solution. As I stated before, the use of math in this topic is very wide, because informatics has a lot of branches. But it is obviously noticed that on each of these, plenty of math process are being solved.
