METHOD STATEMENT FOR TESTING OF DRAINAGE PIPE WORK

1. SCOPE OF WORK
Drainage system will be tested as per specification 15410. Burried or concealed pipe work will be tested before any
Permanent covering is applied.
2. RESPONSIBILITY

2.1 ake sure t!at all t!e related works" w!ic! may prevent t!e proper testing" are over.
2.2 #nsure pipes are straig!t" correct slope $ no obstruction wit! ot!er services.
2. 3 %nc!ors $ fasteners will be capable of developing a restraining force commensurate wit! t!e load
of t!e water to be filled and will suited for use wit! t!e supporting structure.
3 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
WATER TEST
&.1 '!e pipes will be leak tested after t!e installation.
&.2 '!e pipe work will be prepared for testing by e(tending vertically two of t!e pipe ends $ inserting test plugs
in all ot!er lower open ends.
&.& '!e pipe ends to be e(tended will be c!osen so as to ensure air removal.
&.4 )ater will be filled t!roug! one of t!e e(tended pipe to provide minimum 1.2 static !ead above t!e crown
of t!e pipe but not more t!an * at t!e lower end.
&.5 '!e test will be carried out for minimum of 4!ours and no loss of water s!all occur during t!e period.
AIR TEST
&.* '!e riser pipes will be air tested after t!e installation by using %ir 'est +it.
&., '!e pipe work will be prepared for testing by plugging as before described.
&.- %ir will be pumped in by a !and bellow until a pressure of 100mm of water is indicated in a glass" ./0 1'ube
connected to t!e system. '!e air pressure s!ould not fall to less t!an ,5mm during a period of 5 minutes
wit!out furt!er pumping after allowing a suitable time for stabili2ation of t!e air temperature.
4. LABOUR, PLANT & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
4.1 3abour will be as per t!e program and as re4uired for t!e above said activity to finis! t!e 5ob on time.
