Tutorial-1 1. Define following terms: Grounding, form factor, crest factor, bonding, transient, notch, harmonic, interharmonic, power factor, THD, distortion, input displacement factor 2. Classify various power quality issues and explain each of them. 3. List various power quality standards. 4. Explain sources of harmonics in power system. 5. Enlist causes of poor power factor in power system and methods to improve power factor.
Tutorial-2 1. Draw and explain power system transient model. 2. Explain parameters that affect transient performance of power system. 3. Classify transient in power system and explain at least one cause of each. 4. Explain following: a. Atmospheric phenomena and effect on power system components. b. Switching loads ON and OFF c. Switching of capacitor bank d. Interruption of fault current 5. What happens if underground cable followed by overhead transmission line carrying overcurrent is interrupted suddenly?
