Children's Handbell Choir Resumes Tomorrow Evening

On Monday, September 8
th
from 7-8pm in the Welcome Center Library, the Children's
Handbells will resume. Any kids ages 5 and up are welcome to join. The time is a little
later this year as we are meeting at the same time as the adult bells so parents in that
group can play with the adults while their kids can learn bells in the children's group. If
your child plans to join us this year for bells, please email April Ramsey so she can make
sure to have enough music prepared for all the students.

Halloween Plans are in progress!

On October 31
st
in the Brookshire Brother's parking lot we will be hosting Trunk or
Treat from 6-8pm. This will be our third year doing so and it is a great opportunity to be
visible in our community and share the love of Jesus. Last year over 100 families came
to see us, many of them unchurched. We hope you can join us in working this event this
year! All you need to do is park your car by our area and bring some treats to share. We
will also have some carnival-style games as families walk through. Come ready to
spread the love of Jesus and shine bright for Him. There will be sign-up sheets in the
Welcome Center starting this month.

Livin' in 3D is our family midweek gathering in which individuals of all ages learn what it
means to dwell in our relationships UP with God, IN with other believers and OUT to those
who do not yet know Jesus and runs 6-8pm Wednesday nights. Included are dinner, family
worship, children's music/games/crafts, Junior High Confirmation classes, and adult Bible
studies. This year the adult Bible study will look at a book called Intentional Choices:
Discovering Contentment in Stressful Times. There will be a sign-in desk with a check-in for
elementary and preschool students at the entrance of the gym. This is were important papers
will also be available for parents each week. This week there will be extra copies of the
childrens information forms (needed for Sundays and Wednesdays but only need to be filled out once
http://mlckaty.com/Ministries/Weekly-Activities) as well as a dessert sign-up sheet for future weeks. Many volunteer
positions have been filled but we can always use extra helpers so if you have a passion for serving with kids, with music,
in the kitchen or in other areas please email or call me as we'd love to serve alongside you.

Rice Harvest Festival

The City of Katy hosts the festival annual on the second weekend in
October. Our church has a prime location and as such we open our Welcome
Center for bathrooms, a place to cool down, and a place to pray. We also
host a Children's Carnival, splitting the proceeds between missions and youth
activities. To do this we need many volunteers and it is a great opportunity to
serve together as a family. Volunteer times are in two hour blocks (8am-5pm
Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday). Volunteer roles include monitoring the
Welcome Center, directing people to the bathrooms as well as keeping them
clean and stocked; praying for/with individuals; and working the carnival
stations which include: snow cones, dunk booth, lollipop tree, fishing game,
ring toss, and bounce house. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Nathan Engman at [email protected] or
keep an eye out for sign-up sheets in the Welcome Center.
