There are two different *rotocols +sed for e,ternal -essa.in. in JD Edwards
software.
'. Microsoft Mail .PI $M.PI( is +sed /0 the Wor1 Center 2P"'$5"'3 to access
2send and recei4e3 e,ternal -ail s+ch as O+tloo1 and 5ot+s 6otes. 7f +sin.
O+tloo1 for e,a-*le, the sender will ha4e the sent -essa.e in the O+tloo1
sent ite- folder and the recei4er will ha4e the -essa.e in the O+tloo1 in/o,.
$. SMTP is +sed /0 8end 9essa.e s0ste- f+nction, wor1flow acti4it0 and :;E
/atch a**lications to send -essa.es onl0. 89TP is +sed /eca+se a .eneric
*rotocol was needed that co+ld /e +sed on /oth the client and the ser4er.

sent to the +ser?s e,ternal -ail address s*ecified a/o4e. 7f the *reference is not set
for the sender, the sender will /e *ro-*ted to set *references when tr0in. to send
e,ternal -ail.
6ote: 7t is not *ossi/le to set+* certain -essa.es 2s+ch as Wor1flow -essa.es3 to .o
to E,ternal 9ail and other -essa.es 2s+ch as :;E Co-*letion 9essa.es3 to .o to the
Wor1 Center. C+rrentl0 all -essa.es -+st .o to the sa-e location of either E,ternal
9ail or the Wor1 Center.
