Calculation of MAT scores
About MAT
Distribution of Questions
Area No. of
Questions
Total 200
MAT, or Management Aptitude Test, is the B-school
entrance exam conducted by the All India
Management Association (AIMA). More than 450
B-schools across India use MAT as a part of their
selection process.
MAT is a competitive exam conducted 4 times a
year, in February, May, September and December.
A graduate in any discipline from a
recognised university. Students in their final year of
graduation can also write the exam.
MAT tests MBA aspirants in 5 basic
test areas mentioned below. There is no section-
wise breakup of questions as such but each test
area has 40 questions.
The test consists of 200 multiple choice questions.
There is negative mark for each wrong answer. The
duration of the test is 2 hours (150 minutes).
: After obtaining the
scaled scores from each of the test areas, a
composite score out of 800 is calculated.
Additionally, an area-wise percentile score as well
as an overall percentile is calculated. The score of
Indian and Global Environment is not used for
calculation of overall percentile and is mentioned
separately in the score card. Many B-schools that
accept MAT scores as part of their selection process
do not consider the score in this area.
