The Project Flexibility Matrix is a tool that helps guide tradeoff discussions around scope, resources, and schedule for a project. It forces stakeholders to prioritize one of the three areas as "inflexible", another as "adaptable", and the third as "acceptable to concede". Later in the project, when changes are proposed, the matrix provides a reference point for managing changes in line with the initial priority tradeoffs agreed upon. The example shows stakeholders prioritizing schedule as inflexible, resources as acceptable to concede, and scope as adaptable in order to maintain a fast time to market.
