Under Graduate Program
Our Under Graduate Program is of 4 year (8 semesters) duration during which the students
specialize in Craft Design. They undergo courses in which they look at various craft traditions,
understand its strengths and weaknesses; work towards design solutions towards a contemporary
market. They go through 2 semesters (1 year) of Foundation after which they branch out into 2
different disciplines, namely Hard Material Application (HMA) and Soft Material Application (SMA).
While HMA deals with Clay, Terracotta, Wood, Metal, Stone, etc. SMA deals with natural fibers,
paper, yarns, textiles, leather, etc.

During the course the students are introduced to a large range of concepts in design, marketing,
craft technologies and craft issues in order to create a strong foundation. In addition to these
conceptual inputs the students undergo Craft Field Experience of six weeks and Professional
Internship of eight weeks, undertake tours which give them an opportunity to apply their knowledge
and skill in real life situations. This enables them to deal with problems and issues of increasing
complexity as professionals in service of the handicrafts sector.
