MGMT723 (Leadership and Team Management)

Total Marks: 20


This assignment consists of two parts:
1) Written material submission (15 marks)
2) Oral presentation (5 marks)

1) Written material submission
Students are required to write an Elevator pitch or speech.
To learn about Elevator speech students are advised to read The 30 Second Elevator
Speech document available in downloads section of VULMS of mgmt723.
Suppose you are in an elevator of the headquarter of any of the following
buildings:
o Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Pakistan telecommunication
authority (PTA), DESCON, Pakistan Parliament, Water and power
development authority (WAPDA) or any organization of your choice
You find CEO/ President/Chair of your selected organization riding with you in
the elevator
You have only 50 seconds to explain your idea of bringing positive change in
his/her organization
You want to ensure that every word counts.
After writing a 50 second speech you are required to upload it under assignment
section till due date.

2) Oral presentation
After submission of written speech, skype sessions will be arranged in which each
student will have to deliver his speech in 50 seconds.
The schedule of skype sessions will be announced later
Instructions:
Discussion should be started with your brief but significant introduction followed by
your idea of making positive change in organization
You can give idea of anything like bringing some changes in processes, some
innovative product, avoiding failure or anything your imagination can grab.
Your idea(s) should be based on logical reasoning.
o To build a logical idea/view with respect to the particular organization you
are choosing, you will have to study the processes of that organization
thoroughly
o You can go through the websites of that organization, read relevant
material available on internet or personally visit the organization if
possible
It is a skill building exercise and we expect that you will put your maximum
efforts in attempting this assignment
Your speech should describe your own ideas, copied material will be graded zero

IMPORTANT:

24 hours extra / grace period after the due date is usually available to overcome
uploading difficulties. This extra time should only be used to meet the
emergencies and above mentioned due dates should always be treated as final
to avoid any inconvenience.

OTHER IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
DEADLINE:
Make sure to upload the solution file before the due date on VULMS
Any submission made via email after the due date will not be accepted.

FORMATTING GUIDELINES:
Use the font style Times New Roman or Arial and font size 12,
double spaced.
It is advised to compose your document in MS-Word format.
You may also compose your assignment in Open Office format.
Use black and blue font colors only.
RULES FOR MARKING
Please note that your assignment will not be graded or graded as Zero (0), if:
It is submitted after the due date.
The file you uploaded does not open or is corrupt.
It is in any format other than MS-Word or Open Office; e.g. Excel,
PowerPoint, PDF etc.
It is cheated or copied from other students, internet, books, journals etc.

Note related to load shedding: Please be proactive

Dear students!
As you know that Post MidTerm semester activities have been
started and load shedding problem is also prevailing in our
country now a days. Keeping in view the fact, you all are advised
to post your activities as early as possible without waiting for the
due date.
