The document discusses different types of coding and decoding methods. Type 1 involves letter coding by replacing letters with other letters or numbers following a code. Type 2 involves letter shuffling in a pattern. Type 3 assigns letters to numbers based on patterns. Type 4 involves coding complete phrases by coding individual terms. Examples are provided for each type along with exercises to practice coding and decoding words according to given codes.

the actual meaning of a word or group of words. Decoding means the method or making out the actual message that is disguised in coding In other words coding is a method of transmitting a message between the sender and the receiver without a third person knowing it. Main types of coding Type I: - letter Coding In this type, students were given a word in which the letters are replaced by another new letters or numeric by following a certain code. The student is to observe the coding process to know how to code the word in the question part Ex: in a certain code language JOKE is coded as KQNI, then what is the code word for SMILE in that language 10 15 11 5 Word: J O K E Logic: +1 +2 +3 +4 Code: K Q N I Ans: 19 13 9 12 5 Word: S M I L E Logic: +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 Code: T O L P J Type 2: - Letter Shuffle In this type, letters in the given word will be shuffled in a certain pattern. On the basis of the same pattern student has to give the answer for the word in the question part Ex: In a certain code language the word SENTIMENT is coded as ENIESTMNT, then how is the word HYPERBOLA codded in that language Solu: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 S E N T I M E N T E N I E S T M N T 2 3 5 7 1 4 6 8 9 prime nonprime Here the letters in prime places are written first. Then the remaining letters are written Similarly 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 H Y P E R B O L A can be coded as Y P R O H E B L A 2 3 5 7 1 4 6 8 9 Type 3: Numerical coding In this type, letters will be assigned to some numeric (numbers). The number may be the actual position of English alphabet or of another pattern. The student need to trace out that how the letters are assigned to numbers to give the answer. There are many variations in numerical coding. The following are some examples to illustrate this Ex: In a certain code language HOCKEY is codded as 815311524, then what is the code letter for the word CRICKET? Solu: Here the word HOCKEY is coded by the numerical positions of the letters in English alphabet therefore code for CIRCKET = 3189311520 Ex: In a certain code language the word PIZZA is coded as 78. What is the code for the word BURGER? Solu: Here the word PIZZA is codded by adding the numerical positions of letters in alphabet PIZZA = 16 + 9 + 26 + 26 + 1 = 78 therefore the code for BURGER = 2 + 21 + 18 + 7 + 5 + 18 = 71
Type 4: Code Language In this category a few complete phrases given by coding their terms in a certain manner. The student has to trace out the codes for individual terms to answer the question Ex: If in a certain language, oka peru means fine cloth; meta lisa means clear water and dona lisa peru means fine clear weather, which word in that language means weather? a) peru b) oka c) meta d) dona Solu: In the first and third statements, the common code-word is peru and the common word is fine. So, peru means fine. In the second and third statements, the common code-word is lisa and the common word is clear. So lisa means clear. Thus, in the third statement, lisa means clear and peru means fine. So, dona means weather. Hence, the answer id (d) i.e. dona
