Guidelines For Report Writing G78/G84/R75 Project Work Report
This document provides guidelines for writing project work reports for G78/G84/R75 projects at Thiagarajar College of Engineering. It specifies the formatting requirements such as paper size, font, margins, chapter structure and content. The report should have an introduction chapter describing the basic concepts and problem, a literature review chapter, problem definition chapter, methodology and experimental setup chapter, results and discussion chapter, and conclusion chapter. It provides details on numbering chapters, sections, figures and tables. The document also specifies requirements for front matter like title page, certificates and lists, and end matter like references. A minimum of 50 and maximum of 150 pages is required for the report which needs to be bound and submitted in 3 copies.

CHAPTER . INTRODUCTION
.7.7INTRODUCTION /Fo0( S<e .46 Quality is an i!portant aspect of any !anufacturing process. 6nly high quality products can sur=i=e in the !ar)et. The custo!er not only wants quality/ precision and trouble free products/ but he wants the! for an attracti=e price. The A!erican >ociety for Quality 9ontrol defines quality as RThe totality of features and characteristics of a product or ser=ice that bears on its ability to satisfy a userSs gi=en needs. (hen a product consists of two or !ore co!ponents/ being asse!bled then the quality of that product depends upon the quality of asse!bly. The quality of an asse!bly depends on the quality of the parts being asse!bled. The co!ponent of an asse!bly will ha=e !any quality characteristics. The co!ponent quality characteristics that contribute for the asse!bly/ decides the quality of that asse!bly. The quality of the asse!bly depends on the resulting tolerance. The resulting tolerance is the result of =ariation in the co!ponent quality characteristics. Therefore/ the =ariations in co!ponent quality characteristics play a !a'or role in the quality of asse!bly. .7.7.7=$r$;#(5/2o0( !<e .,> ;o#3> I0($# C$p($#6 5n nature/ two e-tre!ely si!ilar things are difficult to obtain. 5f at all we co!e across e-actly si!ilar things/ it !ust be only by chance. This fact holds
good for production process as well. 4o production process is good enough to produce all ite!s of products e-actly ali)e. 5n all !anufacturing process/ !anufacturing of co!ponents with zero =ariation is practically not possible. All the co!ponents in a sa!e !anufacturing line will differ one or the other. Therefore/ the =ariability is ine=itable in any !anufacturing process.
