Lab Report271

This lab report summarizes experiments conducted on an Altera DE1 Prototype Board using gates, LEDs, switches, and breadboards. The first experiment connected a switch to an LED using a wire to test connectivity. Subsequent experiments introduced an inverter gate and two inverter gates between switches and LEDs. A final experiment used a two-input NOR gate connected to two switches and an LED. Results were shown in tables confirming expected gate behaviors. The report concludes by presenting a schematic of the NOR gate circuit and describing steps to generate a waveform simulation file.

Lab 1 Report

Hassan Uraizee
EE271
Introduction:
This lab report was an introduction of a Altera Terasic DE1 Prototype Board
the solder!less bread board and the "A"D #ates "$% as well as in&erters'
(e were introduced to the )wishes *eys and +ED) on the DE1 Prototype
Board' Another introduction in this lab was towards the #uidance of wirin# on
the bread board and the prototype board'
Procedures:
(e were #i&en a laboratory desi#n *its which included, a DE1 Prototypin#
Board a bread board attached to the prototypin# board and the
-nput.$utput /onnectors attached to the prototypin# board one U)B cable
one +o#ic probe and a set of chips 0#ates1' The initial step of startin# this lab
was the assi#n2ent of usin# wires switches #ates and +EDs on the DE1
board and the bread board' (e use the +o#ic Probe to test the polarity of the
switch as #uided in the assi#n2ent' After that after readin# carefully the
instructions we turn of the power to the 2ain board #ettin# ready for the
ne3t e3peri2ent' (e then connect a switch to an +ED by a wire to be
speci4c5 we connected +ED%6 to )(6 and then we turn on and o7 the switch
to test the connection' Easy enou#h the 4rst e3peri2ent was carried out
successfully' (e continued to 2o&e on to the ne3t e3peri2ent and of course
the power was turn o7 as instructed' The ne3t e3peri2ent was to place an
in&erter 0"$T #ate1 between the switch and a +ED' The chip was fully
functional as the connections were carefully e3a2ined and done' The #round
pin and the 8DD pin were correctly connected' (e *new the in&erter had 9
built!in in&erters so pic*ed the in&erter which had input at pin1 and output
at pin2' (e constructed a table after :ippin# the switch a few ti2es' The
table will be shown in the results section' "e3t we connected two in&erters
fro2 pin 1 to pin;' They beha&ed e3actly as what we were e3pected'
"e3t step is to connect a two input "$% ate to two switches and one +ED'
The procedures were pretty si2ilar to the pre&ious e3peri2ent' (e 2ade
sure the connection was accurate' After :ippin# the switches a few ti2e we
constructed a table' The table will be show in later section'
Results/Conclusion:
