Abstract
This is a summary of the draft refurbished office building , which is the building of Georgian stone
in the center of a new existing extension . Connect the new building is being built in the lobby. It is
based on the provision of new buildings and parking room . The site is a slope from the back of the
building behind the old path . The main entrance is located in the new office lobby . The Plan
proposes a plan to meet customer needs and preferences , local building codes .
With the creation of profitable customers , speed, environmental issues and sustainable development
goals and restricted items such as transportation difficulties , tilt your neighbors adacent to the
existing building structure and sensitivity to noise and use different parts of the building structure ,
including columns , bridges , walls and floors of the composite structure . !asement and engineering
re"uirements of the foundation, such as building loads and repel water at a reasonable cost and
construction time is short, and to examine the environmental impact of the proects according to
location restrictions above. Consultant is expected to finali#e the detailed structure of the structural
information .
The coating system was filled aesthetics, durability, maintenance and stability , moisture , insulation
and thermal and acoustic fire highlighted the basic re"uirements of protection. Concrete slab is a
better desktop system coverage . It is recommended that green roofs to reduce heat island effect and
energy loss of the building. It can also reduce sound reflection , improved protection against noise.
Is supplied internal components, including roof systems , file systems and construction to upgrade
the system partition . $eet the basic re"uirements proposed by the internal components and aesthetic
durability and maintenance , structural capacity and performance , durability and fire prevention
technology. It has integrated all these components are fully compatible.
It systems provide fire protection through the use of positive and negative control fire, reduce fire
risk people and goods . Passive measures must protect the occupants from fire trigger and gets them
into a safe place to protect firefighters entered the building and attacked the fire and rescue the
victims , and to prevent the collapse of the elements structural cause in case of fire. Control
measures expected to fight fires , fire fighting or limit the menu to remind the occupants of the fire.
%ou must include the long&term maintenance of the urgent need to determine the pace of the work
agenda for repair and maintenance methods and maintaining "uality construction standards and
design of the new plan office building maintenance , life expectancy , the total cost of living , as well
as financial and budgetary constraints , the law , and how to implement the work of extending the
life of the building, maintaining high "uality .

9bectives and main client proect constraints, structural design, including<
& The proect is based in the city center. Will prevent or reduce environmental impact abroad.
Great materials, e"uipment or devices may have difficulty delivering. )ow&rise buildings, the
building height to the floor 2 m, the best beam si#e is so small.
& The proect must be financially viable.
& Provide high "uality construction.
& (nvironmental issues, including the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
& The high&performance proects consider reducing waste, time and effort. & Cost ,nalysis of
college life *W)C-, to ensure 4value.4
!esides these factors, the strategy should consider when selecting a suitable alternative
framework for different parts of the building, including columns, bridges, walls and floors of the
following structural characteristics and performance<
PROS n" CONS of Structur! Mteri!s
Common structural materials contractor in 'ong /ong is a concrete and steel. Concrete has good
compressive strength but low tensile strength. It is widely improve the structural elements of
concrete, steel wire to form a reinforced concrete *3C-. Therefore, we have the right to choose
between concrete and steel.
Reinforced Concrete (RC)
PROS>
& 3C is stiffer and less trouble bending vibration and the column collapse.
& Good weather resistance, good insulation and heat and sound chemical.
& 3C cheapest market.
CONS>
; 3C heavy and therefore re"uire more infrastructure , more expensive.
& 3C is one of the main structural elements , so less space and margin .
& %ou will be assigned in the occurrence of creep and shrinkage effects of cases caused by the
cracks.
& Persistence is affected by temperature , humidity and time, and "uality work .

Stee!
PROS:
; The steel has a high strength to weight ratio of the frame length . steel
& They provide small members and more room for the shuttle .
$ild steel , low weight, and therefore the re"uired expansion .
& :teel is flexible and easy to adapt to capacity building and adaptation , so that regular
exercise
:tress and fatigue.
& , simple connection , because all members can form prior to delivery to the site of
prefabricated elements .
& To make a contact and independent of time
& The general appearance .
CONS>
; :teel components will change significantly under high load is applied , must first curve . &
It is sensitive to temperature changes * with thermal expansion- and vibration. & The steel
and fire elements need further treatment
Fire #rotection n" Sfety
Reinforced Concrete (RC)
;3C flammable and high fire resistance.
& ?o need for additional insulation.
Steel
; :tructural steel is not flammable. 'owever, a significant loss of strength under fire
Therefore, the need to continue treatment to satisfy audit re"uirements for protection against fire.
%ou can easily complete multiple obects or a flat surface with plaster of steel deck surface fire
exposed member.
$ember.
& :teel is expensive, time consuming, to achieve performance and fire, which often involves an
approval process and testing and special tests.
Efficiency
Reinforced Concrete (RC)
; 3ed Cross and construction of high&level waste as well as the time spent on the construction,
including the need for the complex as a model, stop centering.
& 3C is very sensitive to weather conditions, which extends the period of construction. !ut
C3 from the low power loss, but also has good thermal insulation to minimi#e energy losses to
the environment.
D39DC Coursework
p 13
Steel
; :teel can be recycled flexible design and construction processes differently, thereby reducing
waste in general.
& (asy installation of steel components, the coating can be formed simultaneously
,nd easy to move as a simple model. General construction can be achieved "uickly.
& :teel and insulation is poor, the need for additional re better insulation
3esistance.
Qu!ity n" Mintinbi!ity
Reinforced Concrete (RC)
; 3C and depends mainly on the "uality of the experience and skills of local entrepreneurs, and
perhaps not easy to control the "uality.
& 3e"uires minimal maintenance. :eal can be easily applied to produce a smooth surface, the
panel is not re"uired.
Steel
; 3e"uires fre"uent maintenance.
& $aintenance costs are reasonable, design, finish and protection for the construction of an
appropriate and effective treatment. To be maintained, such as impairment testing of the oint, it may
simply be exposed immediately after the defective area.
& ?o problem with the strength of steel, treatment or grows slowly, less affected by the movement of
water and chills.
& $ember of the "uality of structural steel fabrication and communication can be difficult
Control, but it can improve modern s"uare well e"uipped manufacturing technology.
Bui!"bi!ity
Reinforced Concrete (RC)
; The 3C can convert any flexible design flexibility.
& ,cceptable to some extent, changes in the construction phase.
& $aterials readily available in the local market, so the delivery time is not much.
& )ocal entrepreneurs in 'ong /ong are very familiar with 3C buildings.
Steel
; :teel elements is easy to communicate and build.
& Import long before ordering may be re"uired for overseas delivery as the most representative.
& $embers must make a "uick decision on the si#e and design of the contact and asked to prepare
stores.
& Prefabricated steel elements should be carefully monitored, high dimensional accuracy.
D39DC Coursework
p 14
&There is a slight change in work remotely or on site could lead to a delay in the whole process.
& 3e"uire skilled workers, cranes and heavy manufacturing, assembly, welding, resulting in a
relatively high cost.
& Wide ,rea Position in the construction of structural elements needed previously stored. It will
be a high cost due to land in 'ong /ong with limited space.
Sustinbi!ity n" En&iron%ent! i%#ct
Reinforced Concrete (RC)
; 3C usually produce more construction waste, construction period consumes more energy and
resources is not sustainable.
Steel
; :tructural steel members can be recycled, and according to changes in the construction phase of
adapting, thus reducing waste and consume fewer resources, to reduce emissions of carbon
dioxide, the sustainable capacity.
& .ast construction and low landfill, resulting in lower environmental pollutants not
3esults.
Strengt' n" Stbi!ity Reinforced Concrete (RC) ; 3C has good resistance and bending
vibration and spinal problems :et aside. :tability can be maintained with a minimum of
maintenance.
Steel
; :teel high pressure and stress and tension, but weak contact. %ou may need more than steel or
link very strong and hard to improve the strength and stability.
& Iron lose strength in the case of a fire, the need for additional treatment and steady under fire.
