This document describes the architecture and functionality of an ICx DR Gateway. The gateway is used to extract disturbance record (DR) data from relays and transfer the files over a network or the internet. It communicates with various relay manufacturers using different protocols, fetches newly created DR files, zips the files, and stores them locally or transfers them to FTP servers. The gateway provides a flexible solution for reliably gathering DR data from relays using diverse communication standards and protocols.

1.1 Overview
The aim of this document is to describe the ICx DR Gateway required for extracting Disturbance record data from DR data source and transferring DR files over Network or Internet.
1.2 ICx DR Gateway Introduction
ICx DR Gateway is a flexible and most advanced solution for gathering DR data using diverse and different communication standards protocols. The Gateway is a smart customer driven solution which combines flexibility and technology providing following features:
Reliable DR data extraction over the network from relays. Local Storage / FTP of the extracted DR files to the configured FTP servers. Easy and user friendly configuration of the Gateway.

The DR Gateway communicates with the relays over the network. It uses different communication standards to communicate with different types of relays. The ICx DR Gateway communicates with four different makes of relays: GE Siemens Areva ABB SEL
The DR gateway keeps track of the fault numbers of disturbance records in the relays. Upon creation of a new DR in the relay the fault number changes and the SMS & DR gateway fetches the newly created disturbance record (.cfg & .dat files) in COMTRADE format from the relay.
For different relays the DR gateway uses different technologies to fetch the DR data. The DR gateway uses IEC 61850 protocol to fetch the DR files from Siemens, Areva and ABB relays. For GE relay the DR Gateway fetches the DR files using Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP).
The SMS & DR Gateway then zips the extracted files and stores the files on Local Disk or san FTP the files on Network or over Internet.
