What is uCode@UWG?
uCode is a computer coding club for kids ages 7-17 from the Carroll County community. uCode allows young programmers of all skill levels to meet with
knowledgeable mentors for an informal, and challenging programming quest. Children under age 13 are required to have an accompanying adult.
Who are the mentors?
uCode has recruited knowledgeable mentors from the Carroll County community, UWGs ITS department and computer science students. Mentors assist,
encourage and help participants gain skill and condence during their quests.
What is a Session Like?
Each session will feature a specic topic such as programming in HTML, programming SCRATCH, etc. There will be an introduction to the programming
tool followed by the mentor leading participants in a quest. Participants may be challenged to create a game or animation using the programming tool. The
participants can seek help from peers, parents and mentors.
Why uCode?
At uCode we believe that kids need to understand that software is part of the human-built world, which is why weve adopted the motto Build your world.
Apps, websites and software are designed in response to problems people face. uCode@UWG hopes to spark kids awareness of their ability to become
fully engaged problem solvers through the use of computational thinking.
