Dam Foundation Interaction in The Case of A Gravity Dam: 21 November, 2013

1) The document discusses a finite element analysis of a gravity dam with either a deformable or rigid foundation rock. It provides instructions on running the analysis using the Nsys FE software. 2) Key results that are visualized include the deformed shape of the dam, vertical and horizontal displacement contours, and vertical and horizontal stress contours for both the dam body and foundation rock. 3) The analysis demonstrates that assuming a rigid foundation leads to higher stresses in the dam compared to allowing for deformation of the underlying rock mass.

EXERCISE # 2
Dam foundation interaction in the case of a gravity dam
The present exercise refers to a simple stress-displacement problem solved using the FE !ith the "N#$#
