The "*-( P # must only be used with alternating current. t is
supplied for operation on the usual voltages with a change.over
plug. The setting of the plug is visible on the left side of the machine
when closed. The pro$ector lamp is of low.voltage type operating at
/0 volts with two.pin bayonet
cap, e. g. Type Phllips 102# '.

'ote that the front or feed spool arm must be
lifted slightly before it can be swung upwards. The side of the
pro$edor is then closed again and secured by tightening screw 5 6fig.

Connectn! to &ans "uppl. and (eneral Operaton,
3efore running the pro$ector check that it is correctly ad$usted for the
actual mains voltage. To alter the setting, open the left side and pull
out he plug marked 88volt88, replacing it so that when the pro$ector is
closed the correct voltage can be read off from outside. The pro$ector
is supplied with a three.core lead for connexion to the mains. 4hen it
is desired to plug the machine into a socket provided with an earth
terminal it is strongly recommended that the two.pin plug fitted to the
lead should be replaced by one with three pins. This will ensure
proper earthing. f for any reason this is not possible,
F!. C
a separate earthing socket /5 6fig. D7 is provided at the back of the
pro$ector.
The female plug on the mains lead is then inserted in the socket /9
6fig. D7. The sockets marked /: may be used to plug in a pilot or
standard lamp; when the pro$ector is switched on the light is then
automatically extinguished.
3efore connecting the pro$ector to the mains make sure that the
motor switch /0 is in the 88off88 position, as in fig. 3 6i.e. turned away
from the red dot7. At the same time the sliding speed control #, also
visible in fig. 3 should be in the middle of its travel, as illustrated. 3y
turning the milled screw : 6fig. A7 until it comes to a stop the pro$ector
lamp may be accurately centred so as to obtain the optimum light
output. This screw enables the lamp to be ad$usted in all directions
and should be turned until the screen image is evenly illuminated.
The two screws /2 6fig. A7 are used for tilting the pro$ector.
The pro$ector is fitted with a fuse /# 6Fig. +7, which will protect the
apparatus in case of an erroneous ad$ustment to the mains voltage.
T'readn!,
Place the loaded spool of film on the feed arm so that it clicks into
position. t is !uite unimportant whether the film from the front spool
unwinds in a clockwise or, as shown in the above illustrations, anti.
clockwise direction.
t is only important to make sure that the film
perforations are on the outside 6that is, on the
right hand side when facing the screen7 and that
the emulsion side of the film in the film.gate is
turned towards the pro$ection screen. Turn lever
/< downwards to open the gate, insert the film,
then close the gate again. 'ow form a loop in
the film above the gate with
the forefinger of the right
hand 6fig. F7 and lead the
film over the feed sprocket
2. The film will slip into
position on the sprocket if
gently pulled in the
direction of the arrow. =ead the film over the
take.up sprocket > in the same way, pulling it
backwards until it
slips into position.
Finally draw it along
the film guide 1 on to
the take.up spool
and fasten it to the
core.

)tand the pro$ector at an appropriate distance from the screen, turn
the switch /0 6fig. F7 and focus the picture by turning the lens in its
mount 0 6fig. F7. Ad$ust the running speed by manipulating the sliding
control # 6fig. (7 until all flicker disappears. f two partial images are
seen on the screen, this can be corrected by turning the framing
ad$ustment knob // 6fig. F7.
The graph reproduced below gives the relationship between the si?e
of picture and the screen distance with the 09mm pro$ector lens.
Re#ndn!,
%pen the gate and apply gentle pressure on the narrow sides of the
feed and take.up sprockets 6the places are indicated by x in fig. (7.
The film can then be easily removed and led direct from the take.up
spool back to the feed spool. &ewinding is easily and rapidly effected
by turning the handle /1 6fig. @7 to the right in the direction of the
arrow.

&antenance,
The pro$ector, and particularly the parts which come into contact with
the film, must be kept scrupulously clean. To facilitate cleaning of the
claw the lens mount can be pulled well clear to the right by swinging
round the lever /< 6fig. "7.
The gate, removable lens,
condenser and
concave mirror should all be
cleaned from time to time
with a soft cloth or brush.
The pro$ector should be oiled
regularly after pro$ection of
about 2<<< feet of film. The
arrows in the illustration by
this side show the spots to be
lubricated. %n the pro$ector
itself they are marked by red
points.
