Boulevard Project?
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is
designing pedestrian and bicycle improvements for
Fauntleroy Way SW, between 35th Avenue SW and SW Alaska
Street. SDOT is in the early design phase. The project is not
yet funded for construction, although SDOT is working to
secure funding.
Why is the project needed?
Fauntleroy Way SW between 35th Avenue SW and SW Alaska
Street is an important transportation corridor for a variety
of users, including cars, bike riders, pedestrians and freight
vehicles.
Today, this area presents several challenges that impact
safety and mobility for users, including: poorly defined
sidewalks, significant distances between marked pedestrian
crossings, and a lack of dedicated space for bike riders.
Project goals
Improve mobility and safety for all users, by
balancing the needs of pedestrians, bike riders,
and drivers and reducing potential conflicts
between vehicles and other modes
Enhance Fauntleroy Way SWs role as a
key entrance to West Seattle
Respond to community needs
identified in the West Seattle
Triangle Plan and the Bicycle
