Neat, smart and
effective heading. Name
in a large font. You don't
need the words "name"
and "address" as these are
obvious!
Use a sensible email
address. Something like
[email protected]
may not make the best
impression!

Temporary work and actively pursuing a career in music.
December 2007 - May 2008 - Project Officer,
Shelter, Birmingham.
Responsible for the welfare and successful resettlement of
homeless people in Birmingham.
Duties involved:
liaising with external agencies including doctors,
social workers, housing departments and community
projects.
report writing, administrative duties.
visiting recently settled tenants to ensure ongoing
success and taking part in a keyworking team
environment, wherein I was responsible for
advocating the needs of specific residents. I had to
form an ongoing relationship with each resident,
interview and meet professionals responsible for
their care, log progress and formulate a task oriented
individual care plan. The keyworking system enabled
me to excel both individually and as a member of a
team.
November 2006 - November 2007.
Independent travel in Australia and New
Zealand.
August 2006 - October 2006 Resident
Voluntary worker, Homeless shelter,

independent shifts in a hostel for 25 homeless people.
Duties included administration, advocacy work with
external agencies. This was a demanding yet rewarding
first job.

INTERESTS
Writing and recording music with piano, synthesisers,
samplers and effect racks. For this I often use
computer sequencing packages to record and edit
analogue and digital sound sources.
Creative writing groups and I have written many
short stories.
Chess, karate, playing hockey, and snooker.

Shows that she has a life
outside computing,
although no evidence of
people skills given here.
Nice use of bullets to
clarify information.

No references are given
here - they could be
supplied on a separate
page if the job advert
required these to be
given. Normally applicants
put the statement
"References supplied on
request", but it's pretty
obvious you will supply
references when the time
comes, so perhaps even
this is redundant.
