a) Huck b) When Huck is pondering praying and religion in the woods by himself. c) Huck means if people pray for something, why dont they get it? d) The quote relates to Twains satire of humanity. Huck is questioning the concept of religion. He expects in daily prayer, to receive everything he asks for. But when this doesnt occur, he wonders how it doesnt work. Twain is using irony to criticize religion in how people expect to be given what they ask for by praying to God, without necessarily doing anything.

Twain is again using irony in that Hucks father is raging about how the government is trying to take Huck away when he has raised him, when he left Huck years ago. The father, further increasing the irony, chases Huck around the cabin later, to emphasize Twains point.
People would call me a low-down Abolitionist and despise me for keeping mum but that dont make no difference. I aint a-going to tell, and I aint a-going back there, anyways.
a) Huck b) Sitting with Jim on Jacksons Island. c) Huck means that he doesnt care what people think of him for keeping a black mans secret, and that it doesnt matter anyway. d) The quote relates to both themes. It shows Hucks refusal to judge a friend by the color of his skin. Huck is also alone, except for Jim, on the island. He is more accepting of Jim regardless, because of it. Twain is also, through his use of the word Abolitionist, firmly establishes the idea of slavery as a negative aspect of Southern culture by talking about how people would react to Huck keeping mum for a black man, when we already have learned that Huck doesnt prejudice who he keeps secrets with.
I made up my mind I wouldnt ever take a-holt of a snake-skin again with my hands, now that I see what had come of it.
a) Huck b) After Huck leaves a snakeskin in front of Jims tent, and the snakes mate bites Jim. c) Huck means he regrets his decision to pick up the snakeskin, because Jim told him it resulted in bad luck. d) The quote relates to Hucks development. a) Huck b) After Huck and Jim find a shipwreck while on a raft traveling up the Mississippi River. c) Huck means he wants to have an adventure. d) This quote relates to Hucks development. He still continues to lust for adventure, displayed by his mention of Tom Sawyer and how Tom would call it an adventure. Huck is still focused on enjoying himself and not accepting reality. Huck is still immature and not thinking of others. Jim was genuinely worried about Huck leaving. Then when Huck comes back, he tries to lie and say he wasnt gone. Twain is also points out in Jims speech that Huck thinks he can get away with lying to Jim, and by making Huck regretful of his actions, showing not only the growth of his character but also continuing the negative reflection on racism.
