This document describes a senior design project to automate the washing process for microarray plates. The current manual process is time-consuming. The project aims to build an automated system using several subsystems including a racking system and agitator system. Three conceptual designs were considered - inspired by a washing machine, dishwasher, and shoebox. Further analysis of a washing machine-inspired design was deemed best. The automation will be programmed using LabVIEW to automate the washing and drying sequence in a safe and efficient manner.
