COURSE REQUIREMENTS


Analytical essays: Two analytical essays (4-5 pp. each) will be required, analyzing any of the topics
covered in this course. The essays should evaluate a topic based on the assigned readings; no additional
reading is expected. The essays are due January 28 and February 18.

Research paper: An original analytical research paper is due March 18. A research prospectus (one
paragraph) and bibliography (12-15 sources) should be submitted by February 4. A full draft of the
paper must be submitted no later than March 4 (earlier submissions encouraged), so that comments can
be received and incorporated in the final draft. The paper should examine a significant problem or issue
in records management, either one addressed in this course (including, if you wish, the topic of your
essay), or another topic selected in consultation with me. The paper should be 15-20 pages, with notes
and bibliography. Class will meet during exam time for oral research presentations.
