FPM Courses IIM Bangalore has the unique (to India) feature of offering 70+ doctoral level courses in the various fields of management and public policy. This provides our students rigorous grounding in core fields, training in advanced research methodologies, and in-depth exposure to current research. Importantly, our students take these doctoral courses from the first year itself. Workshops& Conferences Another distinct advantage of IIM Bangalore is the plethora of workshops and conferences typically organized throughout the year. Some of the workshops directly targeted at doctoral students are:
A February 2014 workshop on Macro Policy Environment, IPRs and Competition Policy that took stock of the current economic environment in India and explored unconventional supply side solutions also featured a session for our students. Four student presentations received thorough feedback from faculty discussants. We also conduct a regular FPM Research Workshop in which students present their own work. In 2013-14, the Workshop had five meetings with, in all, 15 student presentations. This serves as a forum in which students receive useful critiques of their work and an opportunity to enhance their presentation skills. The Workshop also serves to introduce newer students to the work being done by their peers, and helps them get started on their own research.
