Readme
You have just received the Herman Miller CAD Pack August 2008 software. The August
2008 CAD Pack DVD has been updated with the August 2008 SIF data and is a
companion to Z-Axis Version 20, although Z-Axis is not required for its operation.
Please read below for new features and enhancements, new products added and modified.
2. Select the destination folder to install CAD Pack to. The default folder location is C:\Program
Files\HMI\CADPack. The installer will copy all program and data files to the user selected
destination folder and will require approximately 2.2 GB free disk space for installation.
Note: If a prior version of CAD Pack software has been installed, it is recommended to first remove
this from the Control Panel and then install this CAD Pack version to the same destination folder
location. If prompted to remove existing installation, it is highly recommended to select Yes.
To add product lines later, simply insert the DVD and run the install program again
selecting Modify as the installation type, select the same destination folder location.
Getting Started
1. Select from Start > All Programs > Herman Miller > CAD Pack > CAD Pack Product
Browser or select the icon from the desktop labeled Herman Miller CAD Pack.
Note: To install the CAD Pack Utilities menu in AutoCAD for Z-Axis Import and Z-Axis Export
utilities instead of placing product from the Product Browser, select from Start > All Programs >
Herman Miller > CAD Pack > CAD Pack Menu and Tool Bar Loader.
2. Set your user preferences for menu click selection and symbol placement from Options >
Settings.
3. From the Product Catalogs menu, select the desired lead time (10-Day or 20-Day/Assigned) and
a product catalog.
4. Make selections from the product catalog selecting through the catalog choices. The product
numbers will display in blue text. Upon selecting a product number, additional information on the
product will appear (product image and notes).
5. Select desired Placement Options for the AutoCAD version, symbol type, product specification
and 3D height value. In the lower right corner of the browser, select Place to insert into an
AutoCAD drawing.
6. AutoCAD will be opened (or become active if running) and the product symbol ready to be placed
in the drawing.
Within AutoCAD there are ways to open the CAD Pack Product Browser. From the CAD Pack
Utilities pull-down menu, select Product Browser... or from the CAD Pack Toolbar, select Product
Browser .
Note: to unload the CAD Pack Utilities menu from AutoCAD, select from the pull-down
menu CAD Pack Utilities > CAD Pack Configuration > Unload CAD Pack Menus.

•Select from the CAD Pack Utilities pull-down menu CAD Pack Help and Tutorial
• DWG Support: Two additional selections have been added to the Placement Options to support
additional software programs that can read and place DWG files. Copy DWG to Clipboard
offers the standard Windows feature of Copy and then Paste. Paste can be executed in programs
such as AutoCAD LT. Save DWG As… offers the user to save the product symbols as DWG
files in a user selected folder location. The saved DWG files can be imported or inserted into any
CAD software that reads DWG files.
• Software Changes: CAD Pack is now delivered in DVD format. The compressed symbol files
have changed from Sylads (SYL) to ZIP. The installed software folder size has increased from 1
GB to 2.2 GB.
• Tutorial: Updated the following tutorials for AutoCAD: CAD Pack Product Browser; Generating
Product Count Reports; Apply User Tags. New tutorials for the Product Browser DWG Support
and MicroStation will be in our next release.
Please reference the "August 2008 Graphic Updates.xls" file found in the main folder where CAD Pack
was installed (i.e. C:\Program Files\HMI\CADPack). This file will describe by symbol name existing
symbols that have changed since the April 2008 CD.

•Quadrant Filing and Storage: S-pull pedestals and lateral files FASxx; Q-pull pedestals QExx
and lateral files QL3xx.
•Seating: Many chair product options have been removed (Bulletins 06/12/2008).
•The Be Collection: Paper tray Y7110; diagonal tray Y7120; vertical tray Y7130.
•Vivo: Top tile trim for wall strip FT195; bottom tile trim wall strip FT196.
