The PTSO is looking for Volunteers. Email us at [email protected] or find us on Facebook Irmo High School PTSO. The PTSO operates to help the school and the faculty/staff, and you can be a part of that through a variety of ways. One big event of ours is the Scholastic Book Fair, usually held in the last week of October. The students look forward to browsing through books intended for their age and inter- ests! We also help the faculty/staff celebrate goals achieved with the students, such as PBIS celebrations and awards. Hospitality is an important way that we help the teachers and staff feel supported and appreciated. Those are just a few of the things we do. Your commitment to supporting the PTSO would be welcome! Please join, mem- bership is only $7. Also, please support our fundraising efforts, because all of the money we raise goes back into the school and benefits students directly. ********************************************************************************************************** Library Books. The Media Center is continuing to accept overdue book returns during normal school hours. Lost books may also be paid for in the Media Center. If you have any questions concerning your student's status, please call the Media Center at (803) 476- 3627. Thank you for your help in re-stocking our shelves! ********************************************************************************************************** Irmo Drive Detour The Rawls Bridge on Irmo Drive will be closed: June 9 - July 18, 2014. In order to minimize the construction duration, cost and im- pact to the property owners in the area, the road will be closed and traffic de- toured during the construction. The current plan is for the detour to use roads SC 60 (Lake Murray Boulevard), S-32-239 (Weed Drive), S-32-606 (Bel-Mar Road), and SC 6 (North Lake Road). The net additional detour length is approxi- mately 0.23 miles. Important Message from Student Nutrition Services Issue: Negative Cafeteria Account Balances Beginning May 1, 2014, students with negative balances will not be allowed to charge a regular lunch for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year. Students will still be able to get a sandwich with milk if they do not have enough money in their accounts for a regular lunch. The student lunch ac- count will still be charged $2.00. Payments: Personal checks will still be taken through the end of the school year. We are ask- ing that all parents will negative accounts bring them current before May 1st. We will be send- ing home account slips with students on Friday April 25th. If you dont receive yours or need another copy, please contact our cafeteria office at 476-3608. Interventions: After May 1st, a list of students who still owe money will be sent to the principal and the district office each week. Report cards will be held after June 6th for those students who have negative accounts that have not been paid in full. Additionally, in order to purchase tickets to the 8th grade social, all cafeteria accounts must be paid in full. If you have any questions that need answering, please contact Mrs. Keela Davis, Assistant Manager at 803-476-3608. ************************************************************************************************************************************** Revised End-of-Year Schedule At Monday night's School Board Meeting, the trustees approved our district plan for inclement weather make-up days. We had a total of four inclement weather days (January 29 and February 12 - 14). We already made-up one day (February 17). The bill passed by the SC legislature and signed by the Governor requires that all scheduled make-up days be used before any days can be forgiven. June 6th is the only remaining make-up day. Therefore, June 6, 2014 is now a school day in Lex5. The remaining two inclement weather days were forgiven and will not be made-up. Extending the school year by one day, requires that the half day schedule shift one day as well. June 3rd will now be a full school day. June 4th, 5th, and 6th will are the half days.
