Dear Friends,
It is once again time to let you know what is
happening to us. As always the Lord' has been
blessing, but the last few weeks has been like a
whirlwind of blessings. Here are a fevx of the
wonderful things that have been happening;
(l) We are now the proud and happy parents of a
baby boy* His name is Timothy Thomas Cuyler, or
"Tiramy". He weighed about 6 lbs. He was bom
at 12:U0 A* M<, February 2, 196? in the Huisache
Motel in Saltillo, Coah, Mexico. Many of you,
we are sure, are' wondering who delivered
Timmy. As you know, we had originally
planned to have Timmy at our trailer, but
thanks to many wonderful concerned Christ
ians, we were able to go to Saltillo just
six days before Timmy arrived. We checked
into a beautiful motel with such luxuries
as runra.ng hot and cold water, a shower,
and a real refrigerator that works. We were
even across the street from a genuine gro
cery store. There was even a telephone in
the room in case we needed a doctor. Being
in Saltillo we were only U minutes from a
doctor instead of 6 or 7 hours., Larry was
an excellent doctor and delivered Timmy
with God*s help. . He didn't panic until it
was all over. Many of our friends ques

the delivering. Here are the reasons;

the 1,10(1 aGres called^ Sandia Ohico^ We were almost desperate, ba^
cause the newest obstacle was that we could only get part of it in the
name of the corporation - Youth Evangelism in Mexico Assoc.)
But the lawyer said the remainder could be purchased in Timmy*s name
because he is a Mexican-American. Tiinmy doesn't know it yet, but he is
already a servant of God, The papers were all signed February 11, 1967.
Now GOD owns the 1,100 acres called Sandia Ghlco. First, we asked that
you pray that we might be able to purchase this land for the Lord - now
we ask that you will pray that we will use it according to His T-iill.
Having completed the signing of the papers made major Blessing Number

Attention Xouthl We now have the summer recruit program worked out.
Anyone interested in coming to Mexico and helping with the work here,
please write as soon as possible for ad(iLtional information. You will
need 8 weeks, inclu(iing travel time. This will be the last of June,
until the first week of August.
Good-bye for now, and may God send His richest blessings to you all.

March 1967
My Mother and Dad have come and gone and their visit was all too short,
but WG really want to share with you one of the lovely gifts they
brought. This little poem was written by my mother.
1. TONY 3.
He*s just a wee little boy
With a cute little turned up nose;
And a rose-bud bit of a mouthy
That sometimes meets with his toes.
Black shoe-button eyes.
That dance and laugh -with joy.
One who needs a home and love
Like any regular boy
God called to us one day
Whnie we were knelt in prayer.
He said__, "Go south of the Border
There are those who need you
there".
h.
He said, "The color of your skin
It matters not to me^"
So we want to show in Cld Mexico
How Ee died for- you and me.
(Tone, little Tony, there*s room in our hearts for you.)

We don*t have a very big house, you know# I, my wife, and 3 boys, and
an 'adopted^ South of the Border daughter live in it# You know, the
world is chock full of folks who need a home, but before Tony came I
said, "Honey, we just can^t get one more in this house#" For a minute
I forgot that no matter how tiny your house may be, if it's got God in
it;, it's as big as all outdoors. You know, now it seems funny, but lit
tle Tony doesn't seem in the way at alll

Now, hear our words this day.
And keep them in yoiu* heart -
If you can't give these your "all
They'd be ^ad for just a part#
He promised us reward in Heaven
Full of happiness and joy -

April 10, 1967
Hello again from Mexico,
It is time again to tell
you the news of the Cuyler
family and Sandia Chico.
We are all fine and all U
boys are growings We know the
Lord really cares for us. We
are especj.ally thankful for
His care for our new son, Tim-
my. The other day we were
called, to come and see if we
- could help a 5-day old
baby. It didn't take us
long to tell he_would die
in a few hours, and there
was nothing we could do.
He was the only son in a
family of 5 girls. The
cause for this baby's
suffering was FILTH I He
was bound with filthy
rags. These were tied on
with strings. The people
had put leaves on his
temples and pig fat on
his body, We asked, "Why
did you put this lard, on
him?" The people answered
"We don't have any other
medicine here." All we
could do was .to try to
clean the painful little

We know the angels rejoiced when this bey was immersed
Sunday night for the remission of his sins. He has
been with us since. He is still studying and it looks
like we vdll soon have another New Testament preacher.
It also means another mouth to feed, but the Lord al
ways gives us something to eat. We are the., lowest
we've ever been, food-wise. For a while we were eating
well, but with so many extras our supply is really ex
hausted, Last week there were 12 of us, not counting
babies or hospital patients,
"We do have several things planted so when harvest
comes, things will be a little better again. A man
gave us ^6 small peach trees to plant in exchange for
some medicine we gave him,
Sandia services have been as high as 130, so you
see the Lord is working here.
Recruits: Let us hear from you soon if you plan
to come to Mexico this summer.
Many have been asking about our needs. Of course
we need money for building and to finish paying for
Sandia Chico, We also need a used chain saw, because
have to put in p miles of fence - a government reg
ulation, A power saw is also needed to help with the
many buildings that need to be built. We still need
medicines, alcohol, vitamins, rubber gloves, and fam
ily planning pills.
Ladies Aid groups and Youth Groups may write and
ask for lists of needs for special projects - such as
diapers, sheets, hospital gowns, etc.
Our thanks to all who give so generously to make
this work possible. Let us hear frcan you personally.
In Christ,
The Cuyler family

Dear Friends and Families,
Just a few lines to let you know we are still
having sickness. Since the last letter. Garnet
had major surgery, and a few days later Ki came
down with scarlet fever. One night he was so
sick the doctor told Ted Murray that he was sur
prised that Ki had lived past 4:00 a.m. Because
Ki had a contagious disease, we could not put him
in the hospital. We had gone to visit the Murrays
because the doctor had still not released Garnet
to go back to the mountains to work.
Ted and Wanda were very generous. Ted gave
Ki the necessary injections, and we were
responsible for caring for his IV feedings.
He is 6 yrs. old, and weighed 28 lbs. In
these last few months, we have really
learned the power of prayer even better
than before. We are really thankful beyond
words to our Lord and His generous follow
ers. Ki's sickness and Garnet's operations
came to over $600. We know if it weren't
for the power of God and the love and con
cern of His people for us, some of us would
not be alive to continue His work.
Ki's doctor in San Luis Potusi said Ki
mu&t have a good diat and Most of
you are aware of our conditions: no elec
tricity, no stores and no doctors within
65 miles and sometimes further (doctor is
not always there or not able to handle a
particular problem.)

Neither Ki's nor Garnet's illnesses were completely caused by these
problems. However, both were physically run-down due to lack of proper
diet, etc. - thus making these sicknesses much worse.
We feel that we have been severely tested these last few months. We
even were tempted to give up the work. Bctt, the evangelical part of the
work continues to move so well, we felt, and still feel that even at the
loss of a life (physical), we must continue to work to save more lives
(spiritual).
Most of you know we are buying Sandia Chico. On this land, 1,100
acres, our dreams are to build orphanages, hospital, schools and con
tinue village Evangelism. We have every reason to believe this can and
ulctt be done.
It has crossed our minds that perhaps all of this suffering has been
for reasons:
1. To prove to God, ourselves, and our supporters that we will
not leave the work half finished because of physical dangers
and problems.
2. We think this suffering has shown us and others the desperate
need for hospitals and help in our area. At the time Garnet
became sick, she was delivering babies in our trailer home.
This can't continue, yet we can't refuse to help them - can we?
Incidentally, all of us no longer have to sleep-in-thetrailer"--we were -
able to purchase a 9 x !'3 ft. tent which we use for bedrooms. One night
the wind blew so hard, -^t pulled up the stakes, tipped over a dresser,
desk and Timmy's baby basket - with him in it. He wasn't hurt at all.
Recently we have heard from several sources that many of you think we
have been eating one meal a day. Please understand, this is not e.V2A.t/
day - although there have been many days when food is,very low and hard
to get. Many times we have to shoot, clean and cook our own meat. Many
days there just isn't any meat. ^e are thankful for the canned soups
you people send. Many days we have soup twice a day, but at least it's
food and it is more t.ian most of the people around us have.
At the time of this letter, Ric is also suffering from scarlet fever.
I'm sitting by his side changing cold cloths to try to keep his tempera
ture below 105 degrees while writing this letter. It is much easier
this time because we are in Eagle Pass, Texas, and there is a wonderful
American doctor just a few blocks away (so much better than 65 or 180
miles away). He believes by tomorrow Ric will be much better.
As mentioned before, we have no electricity,^ etc. at Sandia Chico.
Therefore, ice and refrigeration and good diet are impossible. However,
on faith and love for our Lord, we went to Sears & Roebuck in San An
tonio and purchased an electrical power plant. The total cost was $813.
We know this is a small fortune, but we believe the lost souls in Mexico
are worth a big fortune. If we continue to try to live under the pre
sent conditions, there may be a catastrophe.
The people at Sears really bent rules for us. First, they said they
were only supposed to allow us $200 or $300 credit for this first time.
However, they extended it to the $813. Also, this plan is supposed to
be used for truck tires only - but they let us get the generator power
plant. The total amount is supposed to be paid in 30 days, but the man
said he'd do his best to get it extended to 60 or 90 days. Please be
praying this can be done. We know that we have asked for many things
and much money, and now we must ask again. Will you please help us
raise this $813.00? If you can possibly give (XYiy amount, please send it
as soon as possible to Mrs. Judy Couch, R.R. 1, Box 239, Millington,
Michigan. We are in faith believing that the total amount will be in by
the deadline.
The house is going up and of course we still need more financial help
for it. There will be a section of it used as a clinic until the hos
pital can be completed.
When we arrived at the border this time, there was an unbelievable
amount of necessary medicines here. Our heartfelt thanks to all who
contributed so generously.
We'd like to tell you Ki completed his obedience to Christ & was buried
in Christian Baptism with his Lord, a short time ago. When he was so
terribly sick, with parched and bleeding lips, he half sang and half
said, " 'Jesus is a wonderful Savior. He will carry you through.* Isn't
that right, Mom?" Yes, Ki, that is right 11 And oh, how well we have
seen it these past few months. We know only Christ and the praying and
friendship of our families and Christian friends have carried us through
these difficult times. It is most probable that it is all far from
being over. Perhaps Timmy and Tony will also get scarlet fever. How
much we need your prayers and concern! We don't know when we can go
back to Sandia Chico as a family. Larry will go Monday to see how things
are going.
Being away from one's home is always more costly. We will appreciate
any help - ^nctiiding the help of a nurse or teacher to come here.

Before this letter could be mailed, Tony came down with scarlet
fever. We are still in Eagle Pass. The doctor rushed to where we are
staying and injected him. We are so thankful to be in the U.S. with
modern medicines and good food. Neither Tony or Ric suffered like Ki
did. Please pray with us, that Timmy doesn't get it. He is 5 months
old and weighs about 10 lbs. He can't afford the weight loss that seems
to come with this disease.
Lord willing, when we arrive back at Sandia Chico, we will have Vacation
Bible School. Thanks to all you wonderful Christian co'-laborers who
sent the supplies to make it possible. We wish to commend all of you
for your neatness and quality of your work and fabrics.
In Christ,
The Larry Cuyler family
