2 GoGreen INTRODUCTION Pollution in New Zealand today is a major problem causing various negative health effects (Auckland Council, n.d). One of the main factores behind pollution is the pollution caused by traffic as stated by the World Health Organization(World Health Organization, WHO.). If one could reduce traffic by car and increase other transport alternatives, such as walking, cykling, going by train and bus than pollution would be reduced and other positive health effects such as more exercise would follow(Raising the Profile of Walking and Cycling in New Zealand, 2008). Therefore we decided to develop GoGreen. GoGreen is a mobile application that gives an incetive for people to use more enviromental and less polutional way of transport by providing them with rewards funded by both individual firms and the goverment. The more enviromental way of transport, the more points and the more rewards. The following report that follows provides more information and analysis of the application. 3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision Working closely together with our customer to become the worlds leading application in promoting a more enviromental way of transport, helping the world stay green and clean. 3.2 Industry Analysis: Enviromental transportation mobile application industry in New Zealand Industry: Enviromental transportation Mobile application industry in New Zealand. Providing rewards for more enviromental means of transport as well as promoting leaving a healthy, clean and green lifestyle. Force: High/Low: Justification:
3
3 Buyer power: Low Because the application is unique and no close substitutes are available it reduces buyer power. It requires no economic capital and buyers can gain a lot of benefits from the application, the buyer power becomes low. Supplier power: High Supplier power would be low. It is estimated that there are 11 million professional application developers. This would make the supplier power of building our software low (Waters, 2014). Threat of new entrants: Low It is highly unlikely that the government would support and fund several of these applications. Because the application would greatly depend on government funding then the threat of new entrants becomes low. Threat of substitutes: Low There is a very small threat of substitute. Today there is nothing that gives away items, discounts and other prices for using a more enviromental way of transport. Therefor the threat of substitutes is low. Rivalry among existing competitors: Low As mentioned earlier this application is completely unique and would be the first in its kind. Because there is no competition than the rivalry among existing competitiors become low. Overall attractiveness of the industry: With supplier power being low, it shows that it would be possible to develop the software. Although buyer power, threat of new entrants
4
4 threat of substitutes and rivalry aming existing competitors is low this industry is not a highly profitable one. I believe that the first company who succeeds to get government funding and get out on the market will be the dominant and probably only player on that market since it is heavily dependant on government funding. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs Customers for the application is anyone in any age that has a smartphone, because a smartphone would be required to run the application. Today it is estimated that 54% of New Zealands population own a smartphone and that 81% of these use it actively every day(Dodd,2013). This application suits all kinds of people since it has rewards for everyone. It could be for people who already use an enviromentally good way of transport, or it could be that carrot for the one who wants to start living such a lifestyle. In the application there will be functions such as creating profiles, inviting friends and being able to share trips and information about the app through social media such as facebook, the application would spread from person to person. There are several other rewards than tangible items, using transport such as walking or cyckling would significantly improve your health. This would help customers take that step in to the lifestyle they have always wanted to live.
3.4 The Product and Service GoGreen Application will provide the inspiration and the incentives for people in all ages to use more enviromentally friendly way of transport, especially promoting the use of bicykles and walking. It would rely on a allocated point system, for every trip you get you would get a certain amount of points depending on what means of transport you used. In the end of every month there would be a lottery that you could enter through spending your points. The
5
5 lottery would provide a lot of different rewards such as; Vouchers, bicycles, free bus cards and other core-related items that could be indentified with a greener way of transport. This would mean that if the customer (end user) would use the application, he/she would be promoted to and have an incentive to walk, bike or take the bus without any cost to the user. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners Our key suppliers would be the different mobile application platforms that are available, such as play store, app store, market place and others. These would provide the customer being able to download GoGreen. Our other Supplier would be the application developers that we would hire in to build the application. Our Key partners would be the Government and private companies. With the help of government we could promote a more enviromentally friendly was of transport resulting in a lot of benefits such as less air polution and many health benefits.
The second key partner would be private companies. They would be willing to fund the kind of lottories we would have because of the fact that they would gain a lot of valuable marketing. Prizes for e ach lottery would also be displayed and information on which companys or where you could get them would be provided. With this information you could say it would be a win-win situation for GoGreen, the government and the private companies. 3.6 Strategy: Focused l ow cost Our strategy is to provide this mobile application for anyone in any age that has a mobile application. This should be provided at no cost for the user. As the amount of smartphone users increase in the future the strategy is likely to change to broad market low cost which would be the cost leadership but because everyone doesnt have smartphones, we are at the moment focusing on a narrow group of customers because everyone can not use this application. The overall strategy is therefore Focused low cost. 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Market & sell the product/service
6
6 The most important value chain activity for this business is market & sell the product/service. The reason that market & selling the product is important is because currently there is nothing that is similair to this application. You would have to be able to market&sell the service not only to people who are going to start using it but to possible funders such as the government and private companies. You would have to show them what a difference this application would make and get people who have never experienced anything similair to start using the application. This two elements would be the biggest challenge for GoGreen. 3.8 Business Processes 3.8.1. CUSTOMER FEEDBACK PROCESS Customer feedback is important so that we can continue improving our services. Therefor there is a special customer feedback option in the GoGreen application that provides the user to submit written feedback. The process follows underneath
7
7
3.8.2. LOTTERY ENTRY PROCESS To provide incentives we developed a points based system that you can use for the lottery. With the lottery you can win prizes as explained earlier. The following process would be the one recognized for the lottery entry process.
8
8 3.9 Functionalities 3.9.1. CUSTOMER FEEDBACK PROCESS Collect feedback from customers Evaluate customer satisfaction 3.9.2. LOTTERY ENTRY PROCESS Allow users to enter lottery Check if user won lottery 3.10 Systems
3.10. 1. TRANSACTION PROCESSI NG SYSTEM The system will make a record the amount of points the user uses to enter the lottery. It will then update the amount of point that is left after the user has entered the lottery. It will be an autocmatic process that is essential for the whole application allowing the user to enter the lottery to in a smooth and efficient way. 3.10. 2. FEEDBACK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM GoGreen has to keep up with what the users may want or need from the application. Therefor it is important to manage and store information gained by the user so that GoGreen can continuously continue to keep improving. The feedback management system would allow them to do all this in an efficient and automated way so that GoGreen could continue to promote more enviromentally friendly means of transport. 3.10. 3. DISTRI BUTI ON MANAGEMENT SYSTEM When a customer wins the lottery there must be some distribution management system being responsible for delivering the prize to the customer and delivering information about that the user has won and how the prize will be delivered. This is essential to the business because without the the prizes there are no incentives, if the distribution does not work, the customer will not trust the application. Therefor the distribtuion management system will make sure the customer gets their prize in full, on time and in specification.

10 CONCLUSION The world is getting more and more polluted as population, cars and industries grow(World Health Organization,n.d). Unfortunately there is also a negative trend in overweight and obesity amongst people(World Health Organization,2014). With GoGreen, we look at a way to possibly tackle some of the pollution caused by means of transport, as well as promoting a more healthier lifestyle hopefully changing the trend of obesity. With todays information systems we are able to make major impacts on how we operate in everyday life, it simplifies, automates, and speeds up most activities we do. With a clear vision and the help of todays IT and information systems we can develop an application which tracks the means of peoples transport and give the people incentives to help take care of the world, and themselves. An application that will revolutionize and play a vital role in the way we think about getting from point A to point B. REFERENCES
