We as a consumer depend on the features of fruits to determine the freshness of the fruits . Which results in high threat of new entrants. (Programmers, 2014) Threat of substitutes: Low Threat of substitute is low because apart from using other alternative applications to check the freshness of fruits. The only way supermarkets could check whether the fruit is fresh or not is physically. RFID with two sensors enables the fruit freshness to be checked more conveniently and faster.
3.4 The Product and Service The NZ fruit scanning application comes with a hardware device to enable it to work. The hardware device has Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide Sensor and RFID the product can meet the customers need. The concentrations of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide are related to freshness and the affect it has on food. Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide sensor enables to monitor these gases and combine the sensor with an RFID tag. The RFID system is relatively easy to manage. With this combined system, it enables to estimate the freshness of fruits. By verifying the RFID reader, it enables to track how oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations and fruit freshness changes over time. Furthermore, using this data, it can easily enable us to check and display the freshness with LEDs colour. RFID is a very small system, uses non- or very small capacity battery, and is easy to use its application.

5 Scanner Technology components- Fujitsu is going to supply the business with scanner technology component for the hardware . 3.6 Strategy: Differentiation Strategy Porters generic strategy identified the industry strategy as Differentiation Startegy. Its high cost because there is a hardware device that comes with the fruit scanning application to enable the application to work. The hardware device is expensive to make due to components needed in the hardware device e.g laser lights ,testing and development of the hardware. The technology is aimed at supermarkets in New Zealand therefore its broad market. 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Market and sell product Market and sell the product is the important value chain activity.
