EVOLUTION SERIES METRO
Software Defined Radio 5 - 40 GHz
Data-Rate 155 to 622 Mb/s
One wireless pipe for Ethernet- and TDM-traffic. Flexible and scalable mapped into an SDH/SONET frame.
A variety of configuration options from single ended terminals to traffic nodes with four wireless directions.
Managed by a standard web-browser, Nera's NetMaster or a general SNMP manager. One platform for
all needs simplifies logistics and reduces life cycle cost dramatically

INTERFACE UNIT
The Interface Unit (IFU) contains baseband functions and plug-in interface module(s) for
both TDM and Ethernet services in Next Generation Networks. The baseband part includes
SDH/SONET overhead processing and the optional Add/Drop Multiplexer/X-Connect function.
A wide range of user interfaces such as n x E1/DS1, 3 x E3/DS3, STM-1/OC-3 and Fast
Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet are available as plug-in units. The IFU is 1RU high and handles
non-protected and protected terminal configurations.
FEATURES
For larger systems several IFUs can be stacked together, creating a multi directional traffic
node. The software defined all digital modem is multi-rate, multi modulation with dual
Forward Error Correction. The user simply selects frequency and bandwidth and the embedded
software selects the appropriate modulation scheme and other modem settings. This way
the same IFU unit can be used in all configurations and all applications, minimizing the need
for spare parts and simplifying the logistics.
Advanced standardized Ethernet transport over SDH/SONET using GFP, VCAT and LCAS is
providing flexible and scalable TDM and Ethernet capacity up to 600 Mb/s per terminal.
Per-port VLAN tagging and QoS 802.1p/q is user selectable.
The demodulator contains an optional XPIC-function enabling multichannel system with
frequency re-use, i.e. the same RF channel is used for both antenna polarizations (V/H).
OUTDOOR UNIT
The radio-units (ODU) are frequency and data-rate agile up to 311Mb/s and configured locally
or remotely through the IFU-web-interface. The ODU is either integrated or remotely
connected to the antenna, both for non-protected and protected configurations. A single
coaxial cable is used for the connection to the InterFace Unit up to 300 m/1000 ft apart.
CONFIGURATIONS Up to four Radio-directions, Non-Protected or Protected (HSB)
DATA-RATE The hardware supports data-rates up to 311 Mb/s per ODU. Easy upgrades by SW-licenses
