Week 12 - Intro Text Animation Screenshots
Week 12 - Intro Text Animation Screenshots
I used Adobe After Effects CS6 to create my intro for the promo video of my video game. I
decided to create a 3-D text animation ith a shatter effect. !irst a ne composition as
made by c"ic#ing Composition$%e Composition. &he present as set to 'D&( ith )*
frames per second.
A ne "ayer as made for the text and typed grand theft auto (i as the animation tit"e.
A ne ad+ustment "ayer as made in purpose to separate the text "ayer by c"ic#ing
,ayer$%e$Ad+ustment ,ayer. &he shatter effect as added from the effect options by drag
and dropping to the composition hi"e having the ad+ustment "ayer se"ected.
&he eye as turned off on the text "ayer as it is no "onger needed since the shatter effect i""
simu"ate the text and create shapes from it. In the shatter effect options- the settings as
changed from bric#s to custom under the shape options.
&he custom shatter map as set to the text "ayer. &he co"oured circ"e is the force being
app"ied to text.
&he circ"e is the force being app"ied to text. In the force . options the depth as increased
hich made the force move aay from the text.
In the camera position options- the rotation and position as a"tered a""oing different points
of vies of the text. A"" #ey frames ere activated. &he curser as then moved across the
time"ine and the / rotation as a"tered to the right. &he !oca" ,ength as a"so decreased to
the va"ue of 30. &he #ey frames have been p"otted to sho changes in rotation.
&he shatter reader type as changed to rendered enab"ing me to visua"ise ho the text i""
appear hen rendered.
Changing the vie type to rendered removed the b"ue "ines and circ"es. &he extrusion as
then increased under the shape options in the shatter "ayer to give the text the 3-D
appearance.
A ne so"id as then created by pressing C&1,- / and named it texture
&he ramp effect as drag and dropped to the composition hi"e having the texture "ayer
se"ected. &he effect as found under the generate category in the effect options. &he start
and end co"our as changed from b"ac# to hite.
&he front "ayer as then a"tered to the &exture ,ayer in the Shatter effect options hich as
+ust created. &he eye of the front texture "ayer as turned off as it2s no "onger needed since
the shatter effect i"" simu"ate this "ayer.
A ne camera as added to the composition a""oing me to have different perspectives of
the text by c"ic#ing "ayer$ne$Camera.
&he camera name as set to Camera . and the rest of the Camera settings remained as
defau"t.
&he camera system as ad+usted to Comp camera to enab"e camera rotation options in the
shatter effect options.
%o my Animation is comp"ete- it as rendered by c"ic#ing Composition$ 3re-1ender. I then
se"ected my output fo"der for Adobe After Effects to save my Animation Intro.
&he output fi"e format as set to A(I and c"ic#ed 1ender to begin rendering.
4y intro animation hich as created using After effects as imported to the "ibrary and
used at the beginning of the se5uence.
Outro Text Animation
A ne text "ayer as made using the 3riceDon !ont hich as don"oaded from
.dafont.com
Shapes here created from the text.
&he 3-D options as changed to 1ay-&raced 3-D to a""o extrusion to the text.
6y c"ic#ing ,ayer$%e$Camera- a ne camera as added to the composition to enab"e
different perspectives.
7ithin the geometry options of the text "ayer the 6eve" sty"e as changed to Angu"ar to
enab"e the increase in extrusion depth.
&he camera as repositioned by changing the va"ues of the position in the transform options
in the camera "ayer. &he rotation and position as a"tered a""oing different points of vie of
the text. I a"so activated a"" #ey frames then moved the curser across the time"ine by )
seconds there after a"tered the / rotation to the right. &he #ey frames have been p"otted to
sho changes in rotation in time.
A ne "ight as added to the composition by c"ic#ing ,ayer$%e$,ight
&he 8ames cover as imported to After Effects composition.
&he #ey frames opacity option of the games cover as activated for fade in effect.
7hi"e #eeping the time"ine curser at the same p"ace a ne text "ayer as created for the
price.
&o create an type effect first the opacity options as "aunched through the animate button.
7hi"e activating a"" #ey frames of the 1ange se"ector . &he opacity as reduced to 9
percent.
&he start as then increased to .99 percent after moving the time"ine curser across by a
second.
&he Same 7as app"ied to the :ut no text.
%o my outro Animation is comp"ete- it as rendered by c"ic#ing Composition$ 3re-1ender.
I then se"ected my output fo"der for Adobe After Effects to save my Animation Intro.
&he output fi"e format as set to A(I and c"ic#ed 1ender to begin rendering.
4y outro animation as a"so imported to the "ibrary and used at the end of the se5uence.
I thought ;additive disso"ve< is effective since it b"ends to c"ips of simi"ar co"our together
smooth"y. &he duration of start and end of the disso"ve as ad+usted to an appropriate
speed.
!i"m disso"ve effect as used for sudden scene change. &he effect can be found in
Effects$(ideo &ransitions$ Disso"ve.
6ecause of the sudden co"our change the Cross disso"ve transition fade as used. I thought
this effect as appropriate to reduce visibi"ity of the sudden co"our change.
I used the ;Dip &o 7hite< since theirs sudden change in brightness of the scene change.
&his transition fade effect as usefu" since the brightness change is made "ess noticeab"e.
:n a fe c"ips I have noticed their needs to be Co"our correction. &his as done by using
the ;three ay co"our corrector< in the effects pa""et under the video effects and co"our
correction category. &his as done by se"ecting the effect and "eft c"ic#ing ho"d fo""oed by
dropping to the se"ected c"ip. I ad+usted the input=output "eve"s and saturation to improve
co"our.
I noticed the vo"ume of the game increases significant"y throughout the game. Some of the
c"ips (o"ume "eve" as decreased so the gamep"ays sound aren2t too "oud for the voiceover.
4y intro animation hich as created using After effects as imported to the "ibrary and
used at the beginning of the se5uence.
I noticed the pause at the beginning as too fast to read the text. >sing the &ime
1emapping feature- I fro?e the animation for to seconds at the start using free?e frame in
time remapping. I did this by se"ecting the c"ip and activating the time remapping #eyframe
c"oc# in drop don menu of the effects tab. &he curser of the time"ine as moved to the
beginning. &he #ey C&1, and Shift as he"d pressed hi"e move the arro across to the
point of the time"ine I ant to the stop the free?e.
