Overview of Weblogic Server

WebLogic Server is a Java EE application server that uses domains, servers, machines, and clusters. The administration server manages domains while managed servers run applications. Administrative tools include the Administration Console, WLST, and Monitoring Dashboard. WebLogic Server domains contain configuration settings and can be created using the Configuration Wizard or WLST. Servers are started with scripts and monitored using logs, JMX, and the Monitoring Dashboard. Applications are deployed to servers and monitored. Clusters distribute application load and support failover. Security is provided through LDAP and other authentication providers. Domains can be backed up, restored, and upgraded between WebLogic versions.
