FEATURES
Hard copy devices available for use with I/A Series


systems provide the following features:
High-quality hard copy output from I/A Series
system Solaris

based and Windows

based
workstations.
Text, such as alarm and message logs, can be
printed in black and white using the black and
white dot-matrix printer, or in color using a color
dot-matrix printer. Log files can also be printed on
the PostScript

printer or PCL3 printer.
High-resolution process displays can be printed
with color PostScript or PCL3 printers.
HARD COPY DEVICES SUPPORTED
The I/A Series hard copy devices provide hard copy
output for process management and control systems
at selected plant locations.
These devices consist of the following printers:
Color PCL3 Printer
Color PostScript Printer
80-Column Black Dot-Matrix Printer
132-Column Color (Black, Red) Dot-Matrix Printer.
The main function of these devices is to provide a
response output for the processed information of the
host I/A Series system Solaris based or Windows
based workstation.

COLOR PCL3 PRINTER
The color PCL3 printer is a cutsheet printer that
provides high-resolution, multicolor printing sourced
from text and full-screen displays on I/A Series
system Solaris based workstations and I/A Series
system Windows based workstations. It can also be
used for printing logs and is preferred in applications
where quiet operation is desired. It supports the PCL
Level 3 printing protocol.
Full-screen displays can be printed on regular paper
or, for highest-quality results, on glossy paper.
Displays can also be copied from a workstation
display to an overhead transparency. Print cartridges
can be installed cleanly, easily, and quickly. Refer to
PSS 21H-4B4 B4.

COLOR POSTSCRIPT PRINTER
The color PostScript printer is a cutsheet printer that
provides high-resolution, multicolor printing sourced
from text and full-screen displays on I/A Series
system Solaris based workstations and I/A Series
system Windows based workstations. It can also be
used for printing logs. It supports the PostScript
Level 3 format, as well as PCL5c and PCL6 formats.
Full-screen displays can be printed on regular paper
or, for highest-quality results, on glossy paper.
Displays can also be copied from a workstation
display to an overhead transparency. Print cartridges
can be installed cleanly, easily, and quickly. Refer to
PSS 21H-4B6 B4.

80-COLUMN DOT-MATRIX PRINTER
The 80-column dot-matrix printer supports
black/white text and can be table-mounted. It is
usable as a report or alarm logger. Refer to PSS
21H-4B3 B4.

132-COLUMN COLOR DOT-MATRIX PRINTER
The 132-column color dot-matrix printer supports
both black and color text and can be table-mounted.
It is used as a report or alarm logger, and has the
capability to print alarm messages in red type and
non-alarm messages in black type. Refer to
PSS 21H-4B5 B4.

PRINTER SELECTION
Refer to the following table to select a printer based
on the functions you wish to perform. You can use
either of the dot-matrix printers for alarms or reports.
For printscreens and higher quality color reports, you
can use the PostScript or PCL printer.
Additionally, it is advisable to dedicate a printer to
alarm logging and a separate printer for report
logging. This ensures that report logs are not
interrupted by alarm messages.
