Boost Utorrent Speed

The document provides a guide for increasing torrent download speeds in uTorrent and other torrent clients. It recommends enabling protocol encryption to prevent throttling by ISPs. It also suggests increasing the number of connections to 7,844 and connected peers per torrent to 844. Advanced settings like "bt.allow_same_ip" and "gui.show_notorrents_node" should be adjusted. Following these steps is claimed to dramatically increase download speeds by 3 times or more in some cases. The guide notes that speeds may decrease for some so default settings can be restored.

uTorrent vs Other clients (Read before

continuing)
I was playing around with some settings in uTorrent, a very popular and well known
torrent client, and I eventually ended up increasing my download speeds by about 3 as
much as it previously was! I went through trial and error in the settings, often having to
revert back to default settings before altering them again" #t some points, my speed
decreased, but eventually I found some settings that worked great and increased my
speeds dramatically" I tried these settings on multiple computers to verify if it was
consistent" It was" I ended up getting $"% mb&s on average!
'ere(s a guide on how to possibly increase your torrent speeds by a significant amount" I
will be using uTorrent as the torrent client, but these settings can be applied to most
clients if you have an understanding of how they work"
If you are using a different torrent client (other than uTorrent) and are not sure of
something, simply skip it"
I do not support illegal downloads and this is simply a guide on how to speed up your
torrent download speeds"
)rotocol *ncryption
+ince I am using uTorrent, I will describe this in separate steps for both uTorrent users
and other client users" )rotocol *ncryption makes it to where your I+) can not identify
torrent traffic, which decreases the chance of them throttling, or limiting your bandwidth
while downloading torrents"
uTorrent ,sers- .e sure that everything I have checked is checked on your client" /ost
of this comes by default" The most important thing here is 0)rotocol *ncryption"0 .e sure
this is set to *nabled, and that 0#llow incoming legacy connections0 is checked"
Other Torrent 1lients- In your settings (most likely under connections), there will be
something along the lines of 0)rotocol *ncryption, Transport *ncryption, or Traffic
+haping"0 *nable these settings and allow incoming legacy connections"
.andwidth
It(s these settings&preferences that usually result in a dramatic increase in download
speeds" (2ote- This can possibly, but very unlikely cause a decrease in speeds") This is
where the fun starts"
3eep your 0/a upload rate,0 and 0/a download rate0 at unlimited" (In the picture, 4
means unlimited") Often times your download speed will decrease if you limit these
settings"
2umber of 1onnections- 5our 06lobal /a number of connections0 should be set to
7844" 05our 0/a number of connected peers per torrent0 should be set to 844"
#t this point, you should be seeing a gradual increase in download speeds"
To top it all off"""
2ow it(s time to change some 0#dvanced0 settings" In settings&preferences, click on
advanced" It says 09arning- :o not modify0 but if you follow eactly what I do, your client
will be safe" #gain this can be done in any Torrent 1lient, but you have to understand
what the settings mean as they may be worded differently"
uTorrent- 5ou can use the filter (search bo looking thing) to ;uickly find certain settings"
+et 0bt"allow<same<ip0 to (True( by clicking on it and setting the value to true" (see
picture for eample")
+et 0gui"show<notorrents<node0 to (=alse( (,se filter or scroll down in #dvanced to find
it")
+et 0rss"update<interval0 to (74( (/ake sure you click on (+et( after you type in 74)
#pply and close out of #dvanced settings" Restart uTorrent or torrent client"
*n>oy your faster download speeds!
5ou should now notice a very large increase in download speed" 1ongratulations if it
worked!
If this did not work for you, or made your speeds slower, simply set your
settings&preferences back to default and you will be back where you started before this
guide"
