Lyons Man Arrested After He Drives to Police Station Drunk and Walks into Police Lobby After Parking Car in Police Parking Lot
Suspect also charged with domestic battery and battery of a police officer Suspect celebrating his 51st Birthday

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 7:53 p.m., a Riverside Police 911 dispatcher notified patrol officers that he had a male and female fighting in the lobby of the police station, located at 31 Riverside Road. When officers arrived to the police lobby, they separated the two suspects and learned that one was actually a victim and the other the offender. The offender, Vance Nono of Lyons drove drunk to the Riverside Police Department parking lot, parked his car and walked into the police department to register a complaint highly intoxicated. Coincidentally, just prior to coming to the police station, a Riverside 911 telecommunicator observed the same two subjects traveling on Nuttall Road in Riverside in a 2007 blue Toyota which was located behind her. She saw the car weaving in and out of traffic and that the male subject, Vance Nono, who was driving, struck the female passenger several times in the face and chest. The 911 dispatcher drove to the police department and reported the incident to the on-duty supervisor. The call was then broadcast at which time the offender actually walked into the police department. The domestic battery victim was his girlfriend, 46 of Morton Grove. The female refused medical treatment for her injuries. Officers took the male suspect into custody immediately as there were obvious signs of battery to the female victim and the individual was highly intoxicated. It was learned through investigation that the male subject had been out celebrating his 51st birthday. The offender stated that he had been drinking at his house in Lyons most of the day and had left several hours prior to being arrested by Riverside Police. While at his home, he drank champagne, four rum and Cokes and then went to dinner at a restaurant in Forest Park where he continued to drink four more run and Cokes. After eating and drinking in the Forest Park restaurant, he then drove to a restaurant bar in North

Riverside located on the 2600 block of Des Plaines where he continued to drink several more rum and Cokes over at least a four-hour period.

The offender then got into his vehicle and started to travel home to Lyons through Riverside and got into a fight with his girlfriend and struck her several times in the face and chest while he was driving. While Riverside Police were interviewing the suspect, he went from calm to violent in a matter of seconds. While attempting to book him, he fought with Riverside Police in the booking room and had to be physically subdued and taken to the ground. The offender continued to fight with officers until they placed him in a cell. After a period of time, he was taken out of his cell in an attempt to book him and he fought with police additionally injuring an officer. The officer's injuries were minor scratches and cuts that did not require hospitalization. Later that night, Riverside Police were able to book the offender into custody. Charged with domestic battery, battery to a police officer, resisting a police officer, DUI, improper lane usage, following too closely, and no proof of insurance was, Vance Nono, 51 of the 7200 block of West 39th Street in Lyons. Mr. Nono was held over for bond due to one of the complaints being a domestic situation. Bond was set at $12,000 10%. Mr. Nono's actual birthday was in fact on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 (the day he was arrested). Mr. Nono's criminal history includes 10 prior arrests for battery, theft, traffic offences and fighting with police.
