The International Study and Language Institute at the University of Reading has an international reputation for excellence with 40 years experience of teaching international students. Our fascinating courses are taught by experienced and innovative teachers and are chosen by students across the globe.

Course details
If you are a student 17 years old or above, and interested in coming to study in the UK then this course is for you. This course is especially suited to those hoping to familiarise themselves with a subject before choosing their undergraduate degree course. You will receive core teaching in English Language, lessons on British Culture and have a range of tailored discipline-specific options to choose from. Examples of the pathways on offer include English Literature, British and other European Cultures, Economics and Business. Coursework will be based on studentdriven projects to be presented at the end of the course. Courses run during July and August.

Course level
High School / Pre-undergraduate (17+). Suitable for anyone with an interest in UK Higher Education and culture, with an intermediate level of English. In addition to staying in the beautiful and historic town of Reading there are visits to places relevant to your studies or for general interest. There will be a weekend daytrip, which may be to London, Oxford, Bath or Windsor and other activities including local outings in Reading and the surrounding area.

How you will be taught


You will be taught by teachers of English for Academic Purposes and subject experts who use the latest methods and technology to support their teaching. Whilst at Reading you become a fully integrated student for the length of your stay.
