Expt 4

1. The experiment aims to determine the common base (CB) and common emitter (CE) transistor characteristics of an NPN transistor. The CB configuration is used to plot the output and input characteristics, and identify regions of operation. 2. For the CE configuration, the output characteristic is plotted by varying the collector-emitter voltage and measuring collector current. Early voltage is calculated from this plot. Effects of changing beta and VCE on characteristics are examined. 3. Calculations of common emitter current gain alpha and plots of its variation with collector current are also made.
