RecoveryPlant Distillery

The CO2 recovery plant uses a multi-step process to clean CO2 gas produced during alcohol distillation. The gas passes through a foam trap, three scrubbers to remove alcohols, NOx, and other impurities. It is then compressed, filtered through activated carbon, dried, condensed into liquid form, and stored in an insulated tank. The plant is fully automated and comes in standard sizes from 145-1000 kg/hr of CO2 production.

CO2 Recovery Plant for Distillery Process

CO2 Recovery Plants (RBU) are based on recovery from alcohol distillery. CO2 can be recovered from distillery fermenting processes as well as from a number of chemical processes with emission of CO2-rich gases. Through appropriate washing, scrubbing, filtration and separation technology the CO2 Recovery Plants for distillery process meet the strictest CO2 quality requirements. The plant is supplied with a control panel which ensures continuous trouble free operation of the plant. All instruments installed on the skids are wired to junction boxes prior to shipment and thus reducing installation and commissioning time on site. CO2 Recovery Plant for Distillery Process Standard Sizes: 145 kg/hr, 285 kg/hr, 500 kg/hr and 1000 kg/hr other sizes available on request.

CO2 Recovery Plant for Distillery Process

The CO2 gas developed in the distillery fermentation process contains a lot of impurities. First step is to let the CO2 pass a foam trap where it is cleaned for foam. The foam trap is followed by 3 scrubbers. Raw gas scrubber where the CO2 gas is cleaned for alcohols and aerosoles by means of water, which is reused in the foam trap. The CO2 steams into a permanganate scrubber for removal of NOx, followed by an after scrubber, where the remaining main impurities are removed by means of water. The CO2 gas is compressed to approx. 16 bar by means of a two-stage oil-free CO2 compressor which is equipped with inter- and after coolers. The engaged capacity of the CO2 compressor is controlled according to the filling of the CO2 accumulation balloon. The compressed CO2 gas is filtered in a double activated carbon filter which removes odors and volatile compounds. The activated carbon filters are regenerated by means of steam or hot air. A parallel connection of two filters enables an interruption free operation of the plant during regeneration. To allow condensation the CO2 gas is dried in a dehydrator to a dew point of abt. -60C. The dehydrator is electrically heated and automatically regenerated by inert gas from the CO2 condenser and thereby acts as a purging system for non-condensable gases. The purified and dried gas is condensed in a multitube heat exchanger at a temperature of about -30C. The matching refrigeration plant is equipped with an ammonia or freon oil lubricated compressor. The refrigeration plant maintains the correct operating pressure in the CO2 condenser. The liquid deep-cooled CO2 is led to an insulated CO2 storage tank.
