History (Early Development) : Electronic Commerce

Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce or eCommerce, involves buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems like the Internet. It has evolved over the past few decades from early systems like EDI and EFT in the 1970s-80s to the widespread use of online shopping in the 1990s and 2000s. Today, most big retailers have an online presence conducting business-to-consumer sales directly over the Internet. Electronic commerce can occur between businesses, consumers, or a combination of both.
