E1 Cable Color Codes

This document outlines the color coding standards for E1 cables from different microwave equipment manufacturers. For ZTE equipment, the first cable marked B1 uses white and red colors for transmit and receive pairs. The second cable marked B2 also uses white and red but with a different pairing. For Siemens equipment, a single cable uses white, red, and black colors paired with blue, green, grey, orange, and brown for the 8 E1 signals. Ericsson equipment also uses an 8 pair cable but with the transmit and receive colors swapped compared to Siemens.

E1 Cable Color Codes

- ZTE, SIEMENS, ERICSON


For neat and clean works it is necessary to have the knowledge of standard color codes. Here is the standard color codes for E1 cables coming from IDU. For ZTE MicroWave (MW) Eqipment

For first e1 cable marked B1 coming from ZTE IDU White / Blue RX, White / Orange RX, White / Green RX, White / Brown RX, Red / Blue TX ---------------> 1 Red / Orange TX ------------> 2 Red / Green TX --------------> 3 Red / Brown TX -------------> 4

For second e1 cable marked B2 coming from ZTE IDU White / Blue RX, White / Green RX, Red / Blue Red / Green RX, RX, White / Orange TX ---------> 5 White / Brown TX -----------> 6 Red / Orange TX -----------> 7 Red / Brown TX ------------> 8

For Siemens MW equipment , only one cable comes from IDU having 8 e1. Color code for Siemens are as follows: White / Blue RX, White / Green RX, White / Grey RX, Red / Orange RX, Red / Brown RX, Black / Blue RX, Black / Green RX, Black / Grey RX, White / Orange TX ----------> 1 White / Brown TX -----------> 2 Red / Blue TX ----------------> 3 Red / Green TX --------------> 4 Red / Grey TX ---------------> 5 Black / Orange TX ----------> 6 Black / Brown TX -----------> 7 Yellow / Blue TX ------------> 8

For Ericson MW equipment, following color code applies White / Blue TX, White / Green TX, White / Grey TX, Red / Orange TX, Red / Brown TX, Black / Blue TX, Black / Green TX, Black / Grey TX, White / Orange RX -----------> 1 White / Brown RX ------------> 2 Red / Blue RX -----------------> 3 Red / Green RX ---------------> 4 Red / Grey RX -----------------> 5 Black / Orange RX -----------> 6 Black / Brown RX -------------> 7 Yellow / Blue RX ---------------> 8
