MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP AND SOUTHWELL MUSIC GRANT INFORMATION 2014 - 2015 INTAKE
Closing date for applications: Audition Dates: Friday, 21 March 2014 4.00pm Thursday, 1 May Saturday, 10 May 2014

Please note: It is a condition that Music Scholarship and Southwell Music Grant students be active members of at least one College ensemble or choir, study music as an elective subject until the end of Year 10 and be prepared to participate in music camps and recitals. Scholarship recipients are required to be actively involved in the music program until the end of Year 12. No academic examinations are required. MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS The Music Scholarship is for students entering Years 7 - 11 in the 2015 academic year. This Scholarship is for a student who is an outstanding musician, and who has attained a high level of performance. Generally, one scholarship is awarded each year at the discretion of the Principal. The value of the scholarship is a minimum of 50% of the academic fee and 50% of the music lesson tuition fee. The music tuition fee is for the duration of a students attendance at the College and is conditional upon ongoing excellence in, and commitment to, the Colleges Music Program. PLEASE NOTE: Scholarships cover tuition fees only. It should be noted that additional costs such as Endowment Fee, camps, uniforms, textbooks and laptops may apply on an annual basis and these costs do not form part of the scholarship award.

LODGMENT OF MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Applications may be submitted online, by mail or in person to All Saints College, but we encourage online applications wherever possible. Applicants will be required to supply the following information: Their choice of instrument How long they have been learning their selected instrument What level/grade they have attained Details of other instruments that they play and for how long Contact details of current music teacher

Please attach copies (not originals) of the following documentation with your application: Your most recent school report Copy of most recent NAPLAN report Registration Fee $80

The Music Department will be in contact with you regarding your application in April 2014. The Accounts Department will send a separate receipt to confirm your payment. SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION REQUIREMENTS A high standard of performance is required. Two works of contrasting nature to be performed, as well as an aural test and a sight reading test will be required. SOUTHWELL MUSIC GRANTS The Southwell Music Grants are awarded each year to an All Saints College student, at the recommendation of the Director of Music and the discretion of the Principal. Southwell Music Grants are valid for one academic year. Students reapply each year to demonstrate continuing progress with their chosen instrument. The value of the grant is 50% of the 30 minute lesson tuition fee as set by the College. Grants are credited to the College fees, whether a student learns from a College Tutor or privately. Students entering Years 7 -11 are eligible to apply for a Music Grant. Students in Year 6, 2014 may apply for a Music Grant for Year 7, 2015. Please note: The Southwell Music Grants are not available for pianists. LODGMENT OF SOUTHWELL MUSIC GRANT APPLICATION A completed application form for Southwell Music Grants should be delivered to the Music Department. No documentation or registration fee are required. Applicants will be required to supply the following information: Their choice of instrument How long they have been learning their selected instrument What level/grade they have attained Details of other instruments that they play and for how long Contact details of current music teacher

MUSIC GRANT AUDITION REQUIREMENTS Two works of contrasting nature to be performed and an aural test will be required.

AFTER THE SCHOLARSHIP/GRANT AUDITIONS The applicants will be ranked, with the highest ranked student being considered for an offer of placement. Offers of placement are made by the Principal, Director of Music and the Music Panel. NOTIFICATION OF SCHOLARSHIP OFFERS All applicants will be notified by mail regarding the outcome of the Music Scholarship and Southwell Music Grants by the end of Term 2, 2014. Successful applicants will have 5 days in which to accept or decline a scholarship/grant offer. This is confirmed by: The return of the signed scholarship/grant acceptance letter The receipt of a non-refundable Family Endowment (25% of a current Year 12 tuition fee not applicable to current All Saints College students).

Music Scholarships are granted with the expectation that the student will maintain sound academic performance during their years at the College. If a scholarship holder does not achieve satisfactory academic results, the College reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship.
