Business Communication in Global Context

Intercultural communication is affected by many personal and national cultural variables. Culture refers to the typical behavioral characteristics of a group and implies that communications within a group are also typical and often unique. Generalizations about an entire nation's culture are impossible, but understanding core characteristics is basic to better international communication. Studies show people are most comfortable with those who share similar beliefs, but some human characteristics like understanding human anatomy are common worldwide.
