LBR iiwa is changing the world of robotics. With a sensitive touch.

A new era of human-robot collaboration.

LBR iiwa. The robotic innovation with sensory capabilities for safety, fast teaching and simple operator control. Opens up new areas of application in the vicinity of humans that were previously off-limits for robots.
COMPLIANCE. The human acts, the LBR iiwa reacts. The responsive collision detection function is its seventh sense for intelligent teamwork. TEACHING. The human guides, the LBR iiwa understands. Torque sensors in every axis enable intuitive teaching by means of direct manual guidance. This reduces costs and throughput times. SAFETY. The human needs protection, the LBR iiwa provides it. Its sensors allow direct, safe interaction with humans. The way is paved for new cell concepts without physical safeguards.

The way is paved for new, intricate assembly processes.

LBR iiwa. The rst robot to have safe torque sensors in every axis. For tactile solutions and simple gripper systems.
LBR technology has been used in industrial series production since 2009. At automotive manufacturer Daimler, it is used for assembly of the rear-axle transmission a demanding assembly task that requires utmost precision, and a sensitive but powerful touch. Already, over 500,000 units have been assembled by KUKA lightweight robots.

LBR stands for lightweight robot, iiwa for intelligent industrial work assistant. LBR iiwa redenes the possibilities for industrial robotics. For the rst time, human and robot can work together on highly sensitive tasks in close cooperation. Safety fences are dispensed with, new applications are opened up and the way is paved for greater cost-effectiveness and utmost efficiency. The LBR iiwa is an important milestone on the road to service robotics.

MOBILITY. When changing locations, the LBR iiwa goes too. Its low weight makes its exibly relocatable and highly versatile. Optional battery operation and installation on mobile platforms allow exible operation.

ASSEMBLY. Assembly tasks require a delicate touch. This is where the LBR iiwa comes into its own. Its highly responsive sensors qualify it for sensitive joining processes that were previously only possible with expensive, external hardware and software.

BIONIC MOTION. The human arm works exibly; the LBR iiwa moves in the same way. It can reach a given point by different routes, thereby adapting perfectly to the specic task and situation.

Experience robotics of the sensitive kind: LBR iiwa.

Made in Germany. LBR iiwa is a continuation of the philosophy with which KUKA has been setting worldwide standards in robotics for decades: quality made in Germany, creativity and maximum customer orientation. SIMPLE PROGRAMMING. LBR iiwa simplies program creation for sensor-based robotics with stateof-the-art software support. This also simplies applications with multiple kinematic systems. 7 AXES. LBR iiwa gets round disruptive contours by means of its highly-exible motor functions with 7 axes. It is particularly easy to integrate due to its low space requirements and streamlined design. ENERGY EFFICIENCY. LBR iiwa is also a lightweight when it comes to energy consumption. This reduces costs in production operations. Another optional possibility is battery operation of the robot. EXCELLENT MOTION PERFORMANCE. LBR iiwa runs smoothly and has a sensitive collision detection function. This protects moving objects and the system periphery. It can follow contours under force control. LOW SPACE REQUIREMENTS. LBR iiwa has a highly streamlined and space-saving design, making its integration in the cell even simpler. The redundancy of its 7 axes enables it to get round disruptive contours. 19" rack. LBR iiwa adopts familiar standards in its peripheral equipment. Its PC-based controller in a spacesaving 19 inch format ts into existing systems. SOFT SILHOUETTE. LBR iiwa has a futuristic design for practical reasons. The rounded edges and surfaces serve to offer increased protection against injuries.
