Introduction This document shows you the basic settings to use on the SIMATIC Diagnostics Tool in order to acquire diagnostics data from an Engineering-Station or other stations. I Notes
The term "local" designates your Engineering Station in the instructions below. The term "remote" designates one of the other stations, for example OS Server, OS Client, CAS and so on. Your data drive is designated as "D:\" in the instructions. If you use a different letter to designate your data drive, take this into account in your configuration.

For decoding use password: "12345678". Download the file "PSTools.zip" from the Microsoft internet site http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897553.aspx and extract the file PsExec.exe into the subfolder "...\bin" of the SIMATIC Diagnostics tool.. Download the "Userdump" tool from the Microsoft internet site http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E089CA41-6A8740C8-BF69-28AC08570B7E and start the self-extracting file. Retain the path and click "Unzip". It is not necessary to install this tool.. Download the Zip-File "general-configs.zip" from this page to your Engineering Station and extract the Zip-file to your drive e.g. D:\SDT. This includes the basic configuration files: All_remote.xml All_local.xml

Action Start the "SettingsManager.exe" in the folder "D:\SDT". (These are the basic settings for acquiring data from the Engineering Station and from other stations.) Configuration of the Engineering Station Select "File > Open File" and then select "All_local.xml". (Use this for the Engineering Station.) Select ENGst For "Computer Usage". Under "Extra Module" you specify the path of your (Master) OS Server or of your single-user station project as below. For example: "D:\Project\Proj1_prj\wincproj\OS(1)\*.log" and "D:\Project\Proj1_prj\wincproj\OS(1)\winccom\*.log". (This is necessary to obtain the Transfer.log and Load.log of your OS project.) Select "File > Save File As" and save the file with the name of your Engineering Station in the directory "D:\SDT". Configuration of All Other Stations Select "File > Open File" and then select "All_remote.xml". (Used for all other stations.) Specify the computer name or the IP address within the Computer IP / Name of the remote computer. Specify within the the Username, Password und Confirm Password the login data of the administrator of this station. In the "Extra Module" tab you specify the paths of the OS projects of the remote station as below. For example: "D:\Project\OS(1)\*.log" and "D:\Project\OS(1)\winccom\*.log". (This is necessary to obtain the Transfer.log and Load.log of your OS project.) Select "File > Save File As" and save the file with the name of your Remote Station in the directory "D:\SDT".

Close the Settings Manager. Start the "SIMATICDiagnoseTool.exe" in the directory "D:\SDT". Select "File > Open Config File" and open the XML files that you have created in step 6. Select "Get Information" and click "Yes" to start data collection. Once data collection has been completed, the "Summary of Collection" window opens. Close this window with the OK button. The window Enter Details popup. Close this window with the NO button. Exit the SIMATIC Diagnostics tool with the Exit button. The archive with the data collection is stored in the path below. "D:\SDT\SDT_<date>_<time>_". Use the files from that folder.

Notes

The configuration described does not take into account the computer resources available. These must be ascertained and taken into account for each case of application.
