Lighting
Scene illumination must be approached analytically, but that the artist must also know where rules and theories can be broken or exaggerated to add flourish and interest. IES Lighting 6 Lighting Tips Types of lights
Modeling
Polygonal modeling - Polygonal modeling is a method of creating a 3D model by connecting line segments through points in a 3D space. These points in space are also known as vertices. Polygonal models are very flexible and can be rendered by a computer very quickly. One cannot create an exact curved surface using polygonal 3D modeling technique.

Primitive modeling - Using geometric primitives such as cylinders, cones, cubes and spheres, complex models are created. This approach ensures easy construction as the forms are mathematically defined and precise.
NURBS modeling - NURBS (Non-uniform rational Bspline). The developer can create smooth-surfaced 3D models using this modeling technique. NURBs modeling can truly create smooth curved surfaces.
Textures
Main Objective:
build suitable documentation of cultural heritage objects and serves as a tool to make info easily accessible for documentation/research for interested persons to investigate object without going to the site.
Types of Texturing:
Texture Mapping: a two-dimensional image file that can be applied to the surface of a 3D model to add color, texture, or other surface detail Color(Diffuse) Maps: to add color or texture to the surface of a model as simple as applying a wood grain texture to a table surface
Texture Types:
Specular Map: tells the software which parts of a model should be shiny or glossy and the magnitude of glossiness. (typically grayscale image) example: highlights, like the white reflection on rim of your coffee mug/white reflection in pupil Bump, Displacement, or Normal Map: gives a more realistic indication of bumps or depressions on the surface of a model example: brick wall is more accurately recreated with coarse, grainy surface of brick, and heighten the illusion (achieving photo-realism )
Texture Types:
Reflection Map: tells the software which portions of the 3D model should be reflective. Transparency Map: like a reflection map, tells software which portions of the model should be transparent. example: chain link fence, using a transparency, instead of modeling the links individually.
Rendering
Rendering is the final process that compiles the lighting, textures, models, animations and effects into a single image, video or interactive environment Can be used to composite multiple files
Rendering programs place a high priority on realistic lighting and reduction of memory usage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08 7-FdCyUwg

Post-Production
Post-production might well be the most underappreciated part of creating 3D visualizations.
Everything is completely balanced, you can see every little detail in the shadows.
DEGRADED PHOTOREALISM
Degrading images in post making your image look more like a photo taken by a 'bad' camera instead of a 3D render.
Animation
Having secondary animation throughout the visualization gives a realistic feel to the virtual environment
