    The NWUSF Youth Department held a training session for young people January 17 to help them prepare to answer questions on military service and conscientious objection. A founding issue for the SDARM, in recent years it has taken a backseat to other things. But with the rise of nationalism and increased tensions around the world the Youth Department organized this training session. The presentation panel included Mathew Cosensci (Sacramento) and Gabriel Silva (Carmichael) presenting our denominational position and Esther Devai (Rocklin) and Roxanne Fountain (Moriah Heights) presenting the opposing views. After the panel finished their presentations a group discussion allowed for the participation of all present. The Youth Department is already preparing for the next panel discussion and when it is decided the topic, location, and date will be announced in the NorCal Reformer.

    The 2014 International Youth Congress will be held once more in Marusevac, Croatia. The NWUSF has always had at least a few youth who attended, and we hope that we will be able to be represented this year as well. Programs details with topics and activities will be available shortly. Please make you summer plans accordingly.
