What are apps & bots?
Apps allows users to customize the chat room experience. You can alter messages, count tips, set timers, send messages to the room, and more. With this toolset, the number fun games that can be created for chat rooms is limitless. Bots are a special type of app that have less functions. Each room can run 1 app and many bots.

Who is qualified to write apps?

All apps are written in javascript that is executed server side. Anyone who is familiar with javascript will have no problem writing apps.

Can I modify an existing app?

Yes! All apps are open source. Just copy and paste the source from an app, modify it, and create your own app with it. Just remember, its polite to give credit if you copy someone elses app. Viewing source code from featured apps is a great way to learn how to build your own apps.

Only low-grade morons post gifs in the chats here. It makes the chat unreadable. Consequently and violates the copyright of the owners of those images. Besides no one really likes the stupid around again by many different jerks.

GIF Animations are made using certain programs. some use adobe photoshop cs5 & 6 and som me use a video screen recorder and some record live feeds and mould them into animated grap youtube or other video sharing sites to make a GIF

Could someone please update the "What are apps" documentation page to indicate what a "Token Sco appears beside certain apps on the apps page. Some explanation of how the numbers and the colors f be helpful. Am I correct in guessing this score has something to do with how apps become considered apps?

some explanation would definitely be good, and if token score is some kind of measure of how it be useful to display them in token score order? i have no idea what the current ordering is sup seems to help if the author's name comes first alphabetically (i'm thinking or calling myself aaaz i might even add a few more a's just for good measure :P )

ok. so is that the number of users, or the number of uses, of an app, because b popularity. (i know the distinction is subtle, but number of uses might be more ap distinguish the good from the bad and the ugly;) and what happens when there's seem to be significant. (when there's a tie, perhaps the most recently used shou the app with the lowest ordered author name.) and i'm still not clear on what the

perhaps i am mistaken, but i am sure i read somewhere that non-functioning app/bots would be remov actually happen ?

i am asking because i am encountering an increasing number of phantom app/bots whose code consist number string or comment statement, combined with a few words of meaningless documentation.

at best, such apps are examples of cyber graffiti. at worst, they represent instances of cyber squatting demonstrable coding ability are claiming app/bot names for themselves.

is there any way, or could one be introduced, of flagging such instances so that they can be deleted an up ?

Broadcasting from a camera on your mobile? The resolutions of front cams are awful (and not a using the back camera isn't really convenient. Furthermore, I don't think there is enough room o the necessary elements. A tablet might be a better idea, but there is still the problem with the c scratch.

They can't do that. Apple would never allow a CB app on their app store, nor would Microsoft or Android, which you can possibly (I haven't tried it) already do since some Android phones suppo

As of...I wanna say Jelly Bean, but I feel like ICS was the start, Android officially remove from the store. No tablets are actively running it unless it was installed before this. MSFT they're not as strict as Apple, who will never allow it. Blackberry wouldn't because they're "businesses" (and the playbook sucks anyway). There's just no market for tablet stream compatible to watch/tip, but no one needs to be able to stream from them. It's a waste part to include this. Bobomb also makes a good point, you would look like shit on a front

still be side loaded on the latest Jelly Bean. Unfortunately, Flash just doesn't work device. So an alternative for non-traditional computing devices would be nice.

If the main purpose is to support variable rate outbound streams then migrating need to be the long term goal. From my quick look at the required software, eve do desktop/mobile/etc streaming though it probably involves a significant redeplo the backend stack.

But in theory, there is nothing being done on Chaturbate that can't be implement experimental features (WebRTC, MediaSource API) and as for the quality of fron devices, yes they have tended to be an after-thought feature but the sensor and quite fast. They might very well provide a better picture than your average webca the next.

How much can be stored in a session, and Are those sessions persistent to users and performers alike track... Performer has X of Y, and Tipper has X of Y?

All memory is stored in the javascript HEAP, which can grow to around 250MB before the whole being too large. That should give plenty of space to keep arrays of tippers, performers, etc. If y know! You'll get a clear message if your app crashes due to ram.

as reported elsewhere, cb.chatNotice is now breaking if the message contains any \n newline escapes, emoticon shortcuts into graphics. the second problem is unfortunate, but the first needs urgent attentio or from system maintainers) as it breaks any script that relies on newline escapes, which probably inclu ones. it's a shame there's no dedicated 'hot-line' topic in this forum for issues that need urgent attention :(

We apologize for the trouble. We have fixed the issues with cb.chatNotice and all apps s again. We will soon be deprecating cb.chatNotice and providing a new method for chat n character support, but will keep the old one around forever for backwards compatibility.

You could do this, though the API provides no way to modify the username portion of the mess prepend it to the message or something like that. The "porn name" bot does something like thi how you could achieve that.

Just be aware that you cannot change the colour of the username either - foregr message itself can be modified,

That said, the roadmap does have some mention of the possibility that at some something on the left part of the message which would suit your needs, though n feature will happen.

It's perfectly doable. On the teaching stuff: the documentation assumes a basic knowledge of program If you feel up to it, I'm sure you can pull it off. Take a look through the bots that will find some that come close to doing what you want. You could use them as in away. Another option is asking if anyone on here wants to do it for you. I'm sure there happy to help out. :-)

Any possibility of adding a tab option on the testbed app page for quick testing of code instead of havin upload just to experiment with a small block of copy and pasted code? Just getting into exploring this a want to clutter the test bed with yet another test app / test area. Or is this the expected way that we s advise.

Thanks for asking before cluttering up the testbed. The intended use is for you to clutter it up t maintenance on the testbed -- it's just a separate instance of the chaturbate code running with tweaked. So, just clutter it up and don't worry about making a mess there. We do want to keep
