Name of Drug: Racecadotril Brand Name: Hidrasec Classification: Antidiarrheals Mechanism of action: Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor indicated primarily

in the treatment of diarrhea. It is a prodrug, being rapidly hydrolyzed to an active metabolite after oral dosed which is appears to account for all enkephalinase-inhibitory activity.

Specific Indication: Treatment of acute diarrhea.

Side Effects: Headache, Skin rash, Flushing of skin due of the widening of the small blood vessels.

Adverse Effects: Dizziness, Malaise, Persistent of hypokalemia, Vomiting

Nursing Implications: Assess pt with decreased kidney and liver function before the therapy. Treatment with racecadotril should be limited to seven days only. Treatment should be continued until two normal stools are passed Maybe taken with or without food Should not be used in pt. with diarrhea containing yellow or greenish mucus blood or those with fever. Not suitable for children with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucosegalactose malabsorption.

Brand Name: Cozaar

Classification: cardiovascular agent; angiotensin ii receptor antagonist; antihypertensive Mechanism of action:Angiotensin II receptor (type AT1) antagonist acts as a potent vasoconstrictor and primary vasoactive hormone of the reninangiotensinaldosterone system.

Specific Indications: Hypertension

Side Effects: feeling like you might pass out; pain or burning when you urinate; pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart rate, trouble concentrating; wheezing, chest pain; or irregular heart rate, weak pulse, muscle weakness, tingly feeling

Adverse Effects: Dizziness Orthostatic hypotension Impaired Renal function Rarelyrash Angioedema hyperkalemia myalgia facial edema

Nursing Implications: Assess patients blood pressure before starting therapy and regularly and pulse rate. Obtain baseline live rand renal function before therapy and regularly assess kidney function BUN and creatinine. Monitor for possible adverse drug reaction Assess for hydration status: mucous membranes and skin turgor Assess patients familys knowledge of drug therapy

Brand Name: Tylenol Classification: Analgesics ( NSAIDs) Mechanism of Action: Paracetamol may caise analgesia by inhibiting CNS prostaglandin synthesis. Specific Indications: Temporary relief of pain and discomfort from headache, fever, cold, flu, minor muscular aches, overexertion, menstrual cramps, toothache, minor arthritic pain Side Effects:

Rash Urticaria Jaundice Hemolytic anemia

Nursing Implications: Use liquid form for children and pts. Who have difficulty swallowing In children, dont exceed five doses in 24 hours Advise pt. or caregiver that many over the counter products contain acetaminophen; be aware of this when calculating total daily does. Warn pt. that high doses or unsupervised long term can cause liver damage Advise pt that drug is only for the short term use and to consult the physician if giving to children for longer than 5 days or adults for more than 10 days.

Name of Drug: Salbutamol Neb

Brand Name: Albuterol

Classification: Bronchidilator

Mechanism of action: It binds to the beta2- adrenergic receptros in the airway of the smooth muscle which then leads to the activitaion of the adenyl cydase and increased levels of cyclic 35 adenosine monophosphate.

Specific Indication: Relief and prevention of bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway disease.

Side Effects: Tremors Nervousness Headache Insomnia Anorexia N/V Heartburn

Nursing Implications; Use minimal doses for minimal periods, drug tolerance can occur with prolonged used. Maintain a adrenergic blocker, on standby on care cardiac arrhythmias occur Prepare solution for inhalation by diluting 0.5 ml 0.5% solution with 2.5 ml normal saline, deliver over 5-15 minutes by nebulization Do not exceed the recommended dosage; administer pressurized inhalation drug forms during second half of inspiration because the airways are open wider and the aerosol distribution is more extensive.

Classification: Second generation cephalosporins

Mechanism of action: Inhibits cell wall synthesis, promoting osmotic instability, usually bactericidal

Nursing Implications: Determine history of hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins, penicillins and history of allergies Perform culture and sensitivity tests before initiation of therapy and periodically during therapy if indicated Inspect IM and IV injections sites frequently for signs of phlebitis Monitor for manifestations of hypersensitivity of the drug.
