REPORT

i. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We have selected “Jamu” as our traditional cosmetics product. Jamu is a combination of herbal

remedies and herbal cosmetics and is made out of natural materials, such as parts of plants such

as roots, leaves and bark, and fruit. It is usually bitter but sweetened with honey. Jamu is also

produced in factories by large companies such as Air Mancur, Nyonya Meneer or Djamu Djago,

and sold at various drug stores in sachet packaging. It should be dissolved in hot water first

before drinking. It is also distributed in the form of powder, pills, capsules, and drinking liquid.

People in the island of Bali and Jawa depended on Jamu for their overall inner and outer beauty.

Since it is a traditional product, the packaging and the brand does not appear to be attractive to

the consumer. And so, we have rebranded the product and also transformed it into new

packaging in order for it to appear more attractive.

practical to carry a bottle of Jamu around in consumer’s handbag during work time and

also during travelling.

 Opportunities; Nowadays, it is important for women to take care of their inner and outer

beauty and also their health conditions. Women are also afraid of taking pills which

assure it to be more commercialized. This new packaging is made out of glass so that it will create an

exclusive design. The color will surely be more attractive compared to the original color.

Interestingly, many key Jamu formulas on how to consume jamu require the addition of a fresh raw egg

yolk (chicken or duck egg) and this has been shown scientifically to enhance the bioavailability of the

main ingredient, Curcumin, by many times due to its creating a fat soluble emulsuion that enables

Curcumin to be made bioavailable to cells throughout the body. Alternately, for those who may not be up

to drinking raw egg yolk then mixing with Virgin Coconut Oil can improve the bio-availability,
